After a break last week (we couldn't even pretend to have something to talk about!), we're back with Cory again this week. We talk about the role of the hive in NS and how we see it evolving in NS2. Cory shows his new hive concept and we discuss it in detail.
You can also check out the images used in this vidcast in the NS2 gallery.
Sorry for the delay on this week's videocast. We're just waiting for Revver to hurry up and encode the video already. Thanks for your patience and look for it soon...
We're trying something new this week instead of our regular podcast - a videocast. No, we don't have a video camera showing our humble workspace and mugs but we did record an image slideshow while talking with Cory "Squeal_Like_A_Pig" Strader about the origins of the NS art style and our process to build it.
So please welcome Cory in his first public appearance with us! He's been involved since the beginning, but has always eschewed the limelight. No longer (via the promise of caek)! In this video, we talk about art visions we discarded, the drawing process and tools, iteration and pre-visualization. You will also see some alien concepts that were never released to the public.
If you'd like to re-post this video, we only ask that you please use the Revver code found here instead of the file.
Please let us know what you think!
Happy New Year's! We're back from visiting with our families and ready for action.
This week we discuss our game development New Year's Resolutions - both what we want to do better this year and what we hope the rest of the game industry will too. Unit testing, task estimation, less shooting and smaller games are on the agenda.
