Which would clearly be a problem if Unknown Worlds was selling advertising on the website.

It has been quite a long time without a update -_-, but I hope its for a good reason.

I'd appreciate a little "we're busy, etc." for an update, it's quick and prevents these sorts of things

Generally when they're not providing updates, they're busy working. When they're ready for an update, they'll give one. There is little sense in continually asking for a new update.

I disagree, I think its critical for developers to see (maybe not doing anything about though if it cant be helped) the community requests for information. Both to gadge how successful or usefull the podcasts they do are, hopefully as motivation to finish sections (at least mostly) and as a cry for help with a community that is (slowly) drying up. Furthermore I dont see how you can fault people for expecting updates aproximatly (hey stuff happens to mess up the best scheduals sometimes) as often as the developers own timeline (weekly last I heard). If Unknown Worlds wishes to change that expectation all they have to do is say they plan on sending out montly updates or biweekly updates with some news between updates.

I suppose my view has always been, they'll release updates when they're ready to. I would rather them not update for a month or two and and then give us an update with something really cool, instead of spending time each week preparing a podcast just to tell us "Yeah we're not dead". It seems counter-productive to release updates and podcasts when there is nothing new to report.

As the old saying goes, Quality over Quantity. We are always going to want more updates, however, it is better that the updates that are given are good informative ones instead of ones with just rambling.

Need update! Need news!

As much as I believe quality over quantity, they should not go 4 weeks without some sort of little update. But I also think that its probably best that they work hard now. When the time comes, it will be great news. Just remember the quote from that corny baseball movie Field of Dreams, "If you build it, they will come."

Everyone has been saying something along the lines of "Its ok if they dont update for a while cause quality is better than quantity". So thats a problem now isnt it, if the next update DOESN'T produce something huge everyone is going to be annoyed. Had there been a drip feed of news coming in it would keep everyones critisism at bay.

Pressures on guys, dont deliver and things might get messy!

I'm pretty sure they'll be fine either way. A public post on the website to the effect of "we're really busy right now and don't have time for podcasts" would be appreciated, but pretty much the same thing was posted in the forums. The people who read the forums know so I don't think it's really a big deal.

Personally, I'd be fine with a normal text news post. Doesn't have to be anything like a podcast. In fact, I prefer text over audio, since I can read it faster

I think that the team should post a small update in text, to give the next podcast a little foreplay. Everyone loves foreplay. Not posting any news on the main page in four weeks makes fans restless.

the only thing that mildly frustrates me about the lack of podcasts, was that in the last one, J was about to mention something, but charlie said "nah we wont mention that now, we'll talk about it next week".... and were still waiting. a while ago he said "next week corey will be joining us for another videocast", yet this failed to materialize.

normally it wouldnt bother me if we went 4 weeks without a podcast, but when they tease us like that and fail to deliver, it tends to make me more and more restless as the weeks roll by, and diminishes my usually very high respect for the dev's. it also tends to make me lose faith that the next podcast will be as good as they hinted it would.

hopefully in the next podcast we'll get to see not just a flash of whats under that kimono, but a full blown striptease lol

Have a drink and relax, they are going to say the same thing they've been saying for years. It will be done when its done.

Personally I would rather have them be dormant for weeks at a time and release larger updates instead of stringing us along.

The only problem is with that theory is that better games are already coming out as they delay release. Setting a date is important to any company to meet deadlines of its customers. If a company cannot meet deadlines, the customers lose faith in the product. UWE is a good head, but they don't realize they need to work to make the mod, not just conceptualize.

Meh. How long as source engine been around for? 4 years or so this November. I'm wondering what NS could have looked like if it were re-engineered on U3. (though I suppose the relationship Charlie has with Valve is too valuable to even consider this).

Plus, a change now would be like Duke nukem forever...haha.
