hi there,
it might be a little early, but i already started building up a ns2 community slowly.
i'm currently working at its homepage. the portal is nearly done which i uploaded and you can admire here: ns2 portal page prototype

ok, so why am i posting here? i'm currently looking for 1-2 people who can code properly.
i need someone who can script/adept newssystems, panels, a CMS (content management system) and such. and eventually be able to modify existing templates codes. infact - i need someone who can handle the code of an entire page and modify it at anytime to your needs.

what you requier:
proper coding skills
time to code
be european
basic english knownledg
motivation
creativity
be 16years+
MSN
dependable

if you match the requierments and would like to be part of it, just PM or add me at steamfriends.(same goes for any kind of questions)
these people would obviously automatically gain rights on the upcoming site, forum and server - depending on effort and trust.

i hope to get some PMs, and even if thos are only sugestions, keep 'em coming! smile-fix.gif

PS: we're not in a hurry!! wink-fix.gif

P.S. you're site looks good, nice use of the artwork...

Nice looking site, but the base of that artwork isnt yours. You should have the OK from flayra/max or someone else on the dev team before you use it. Just because it was realeased publicly doesnt mean its in the public domain, and it does not apply as far as I can tell under fair use given that its not for criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research.

This is one of those issues we get asked about frequently, so we've added it to the FAQ.

why are all ppl like "oh new page, let's code a new CMS".

Just use a good one with good support like Joomla or TYP03. Reduces Security Issues if you don't hack it too much compared to coding one urself. For a new/small site it's the best solution. Joomla is free, the only thing you have to do is getting the "design" into a template, and there are many plugins for it (Forum, GB, Community/Comments/"Web2.0 funcs", etc pp)

Pre-built CMS' always seem to be missing one tiny thing, or are way over-done for what I need.
I've always built systems designed specifically for a certain design / purpose. All the really well-made (technically) CMS's that are free seem to lack (alot) in usability any kind of user-orientated functionality, making it frustrating to have a really good technical site, but ghastly in appearance and use! A huge amount of CSS learning (their style of coding) and editing is needed to change that.
-please correct me if I'm wrong, and point me in the direction of a usable and functional CMS smile-fix.gif.

It means more work when you start a new project, but it also is hugely rewarding in terms of user-experience. Users will wait a few months to use a website, they wont come back if it's horrible to use, though.

if you gonna do something, do it right!

thats it. i dont want an incomplete page, so i'm looking for coder(s) who can adapt and code stuff on their own to be flexible and individual smile-fix.gif

Clearly you're not a coder or you would realize that writing a complete and feature rich CMS is an enormous project and is so unbelievably not worth it. Use an existing CMS, deal with its alleged lack of user friendlyness, and deal with its shortcomings, and if you happen to find someone who's willing to code for your site, have them make feature additions/changes to an existing CMS.

There are many out there, many free, and I find it extremely hard to believe that none are close to fitting your needs and therefore modifying htem would be worse off than writing one from scratch.

am i talking chinese or do you not know the meaning of adapt?

i btw already found one. nevertheless, thanks

Way to edit your earlier post to include the word "adapt" and then make a new post emphasizing that word. good move.

see the edit dates and watch him owning himself
asmodee
Yes, I owned myself because I read your thread, saw the idiocy of your request, decided it was best not to post my original rant, then a couple days later decide to post anyway without rereading... my mistake! Still doesn't change the fact that your original request didn't include the word adapt.

fact? facts have proofs. wheres your proof?
too bad "adapt" had been in my first post since it was released - the edits were just because of several typus

thanks for ruining a thread by talking nonsens bull######. whatever, it already made its job, so please gtfo gimp.

Just because 1 person is unable to prove something (I don't have access to a time machine or relevent server logs) does not mean it isn't fact.

Can you prove the speed of light in a vacuum is 299,792,458 m/s? I'm guessing not, so it must be
