The colors don't look quite as bright to me. Is there a bloom effect missing?

I'm suprised valve hasnt approached you about some of these tools, it would really benefit other dev's or even mod teams

I was able to create an 3d engine that loaded directly from 3ds max files in school using this page
http://www.martinreddy.net/gfx/3d/3DS.specBut it was a while ago so it might not work for the newer versions of 3dsmax.

Maybe something like bump-mapping, parallax or similar? Wouldn't be obvious in that shot anyway.
Pretty cool viewer you've got. Did you base it on any graphics libraries or write it all yourself Max?

Oh there's definitely some missing texture there. I don't think that blue checkerboard is quite right. You can see it very clearly on the box behind the CP. Doh.
