What if aliens could sharpen their teeth on say alien resource towers to get a damage bonus for the first succesful bite/hit that lands on a marine or marine structure?

Perhaps it could even be that aliens need to constantly sharpen their teeth as they get blunt after a lot of chomping - but maybe the primary attack no longer uses adrenaline (cept gorges cause they have no teeth).

This would encourage aliens to guard res towers, and also to keep moving around the map.

it could even be such that the primary attack does less and less until it eventually does only about 20% damage - you could have the teeth in the skulk hud/weapon view broken so you can tell how much damage you are doing.

Ns is not an rpg.

chill out man :S just a suggestion
I know ns isnt an RPG and how about you don't tell me what i might suggest next - no need to be a troll.

you might want to think about the fact ns already has several ways to increase your damage? that being thru arms lab upgrades or by using focus - the first part of this suggestion is no different, plus its an alternative to adrenaline (which is just a gun reloading system in disguise)

But i was mainly basing the idea on how certain animals sharpen their beaks or like when a crocodile attacks it loses some of its teeth which then grow back.

and has there been any official statements to say ns2 won't be a turn based rpg ? tounge.gif

Biting a resource tower just so your only method of attack does not become impotent simply because you had the audacity to attempt to play the game instead of chomp a static object is not, by my definition of the word, fun. It's basically punishment for existing, or more accurately for playing as Kharaa and actually biting people. Never once in my years of playing NS have I heard someone say "gee, this frenetic back and forth action across the entire map is really exciting and dynamic, but I wish every once in a while I'd become useless in combat unless I go munch on a resource tower for a bit. That would be awesome!" NS2 doesn't need a thousand silly little rules that you have to follow like some sufferer of OCD just so you can get back to the part of the game where you fight with the enemy. It would be unnecessarily complex for new players, a boring time sink for every player, and a constant source of annoyance to veteran players who would not understand why they're being forced to spend part of their playing session staring and an RT and biting for no reason other than an arbitrary damage reduction that would apply if they didn't do so. The concept is the same even if it only provides a bonus instead of removing blunted teeth, because you're in effect crippling yourself if you forgo the damage increase you'd get from sitting there motionless holding down your left mouse button. The only other option would be to make the bonus so miniscule that it's not a deciding factor in the game, which would of course be admitting that you're just adding complexity because you can't think of anything worthwile to do.

ok fine - biting marine structure sharpens your teeth for the 1st bite smile-fix.gif that will have some interesting repurcussions to gameplay.

the ability to juggle, your health, bunnyhopping, res towers and damage bonuses would make the game more intersting i think smile-fix.gif

Using "focus" as an alien skulk/fade/ONOS, already gives you an upgrade for biting/swiping/gorging. This is already part of the game... *shrug*

I would just like to take the time to point out that stars is a troll that hates everyone elses' ideas, thanks.

Anyways, Even though the idea of biting a res tower isn't the greatest, perhaps you could get a minor damage boost by doing so in a vent or some such while waiting for a marine to walk by. It would make a noise unless silenced, of course, but...it's not all bad.

Stars just needs some sleep, he doesn't always fly off the handle at other ideas, just most of the time.

Hmm, perhaps this could be a new way to think of focus? Like, sure, there is some damage increased for looking for brutal vital vorpal like hits but perhaps by some method of preparation and skill, you would be straight up death's touch?

From examples in nature, it does have some merit, I just kinda wonder if we don't already have it with focus, or if there was some other way to look at this.

Stars needs a nap. Seriously.

But ya...that's a bad idea (the entire sharpening of teeth bit). Rethink, and try again.
