Regardless of what team you're on, resource nodes play a important role. They harvest the nano-sludge, which is the game equivalent of money, needed to drive your team to victory. Structures, upgrades, evolutions and most commander functions all depend on these resources. Your resource nodes come second in importance only to the Command Chair/Infantry Portals or the Hive, depending on which team your playing. Whichever team holds the most nodes the longest is generally the one that comes out ahead in the game. This is why capping resource nozzles with your own nodes is just as important as taking down your enemy's.
