| Armor System |
The
armor system of Natural Selection is fairly complicated. However,
for the basic purpose of determining the strength of a class, it can be
summed up as the following:
One armor point is worth... for marines: 2 health points for aliens... at 0 hives: 2 health points at 1 hive: 2 health points at 2 hives: 2.5 health points at 3 hives: 3 health points
Again,
though, it is actually a bit more complicated. There are two main
components to the armor system: damage absorption, and damage negation.
When
damage is taken from an attack, one portion of it is directed to armor,
while the other portion is subtracted from the numeric health amount.
Damage absorption refers to the portion of damage that is
directed to armor.
The damage absorption percentage is... for marines... with light armor: 70% with a jetpack: 70% with heavy armor: 95% for aliens... with 0 hives: 70% with 1 hive: 70% with 2 hives: 80% with 3 hives: 90%
Of
the damage that is directed to armor, a portion of it is nullified.
The remaining damage is then subracted from the numeric armor
amount. Damage negation refers to the portion of the damage that
is nullified.
The damage negation percentage is... for marines: 50% for aliens... with 0 hives: 50% with 1 hive: 50% with 2 hives: 60% with 3 hives: 66.6% repeating
For
every class, the damage absorption is sufficiently high and negation
sufficiently low that, under normal circumstances, all armor is
depleted long before the health is. This is why for most
purposes, the basic summary, given at the top, is sufficient. |
