At certain times in the game, minimap on the left bottom corner in the
commander viewpoint goes black and can't even click to move around
to different locations. Also, res does not show on the upper left corner
at the time as well. I do not know any specific conditions for this bug
to happend but it occurs fairly often (2~3 times a round). The only
solution I know is to log out and hop in the chair again.

The only thing I've ever heard that is remotely like this is the problems people have with some nVidia drivers. They'll have sprites go all black.

I'm moving this to Investigation for comment and reply.

I'm pretty sure it's not the driver issue since
I know that "black bounding box" sprite rendering
problem on some old 91.xx drivers was fixed when
nVidia updated the driver to 91.48, the one which
I previous had before I installed 93.71 to test out this bug.

The bug is different from the one mentioned above
in that all in-game sprites display properly including
muzzle flash, marine HUD and even sprites used in
commander viewpoint.

I also realized that the bug almost always
occurs right after when the commander types a chat
message (both team and all) and that even though
commander is clearly in the comm chair, it does not
display the name of the commander on the main HUD
for the rest of marines or on the scoreboard when
this bug occurs.

This is drastically reducing marine's winning percentage
since the commander needs to keep logout and hop in
the chair constantly . I will try to take screen shots or
even record demos the next time I comm.

This bug only occurs in AMX-enabled servers,
which means that it is not an internal ns bug biggrin-fix.gif
However, I don't know what to say because
many servers will and does enable AMX for
the purpose of running various plugins.
I hope this gets tracked down before 3.2
is made final.
