I've searched troughout the forum and internet about the all mighty func_weldable. But the one question has not been answered properly: Can a func_weldable be reset during a round, like it is at the end of the a round? This would open up a series of new gameplay elements I want to try... The answer is probably no, which would be a shame. But it never hurts to ask. If it is no, can it even be implemented into NS, with this relic of an engine?

Anyway it seems to me that the following things are broken in the func_weldable:

Name
Flag start enabled
Rendermodes
Health --> Target on break

Note:
An addition, and kind of related (some of you might already know about it). The func_breakable is not reset properly after a round, even with the many options available (trigger_random, gamestartedsequence+trigger_relay_on etc...)

Hrmm....

dont believe you can reset theme mid-round...

although you can time-delay a 'hatch' that opens to reveal other weldable switchs...?

Yep that possible, but imagin what could be possible in this scenario:

- marines weld a plate in front of a vent into their relocation base
- aliens destroy that plate to be able to get in
- marines once again weld a plate in fron of the vent etc...

or

- Aliens destroy a door interface so it closes a hallway into their hive
- Marines repair this interface with their welder to once again get easier access into the hive
- Aliens destroy it again...

Or in my map

- Marines weld the bacterium at the drain hatch in watercleansing (v2b3 not released yet) so the water drains away, water is the marine his enemy due to weapons not firing
- the aliens then repair that bacterium at the drain hatch to give the marines a harder time getting into their hive from there etc...

See where im going with this tounge.gif

yep, i follow ya...

I still dont think its possible off the top my head... lemmie do a little searchin to confirm.
