Hello guys, i'm an old gamer from back in 2003??/04?? who used to play 2.13 or 2.14 i can't remember it was too long ago, but it definately was 2.1x lol.

Anyway, thats the introduction, what i meant to say is that i was encouraged by the news of a NS2 for the 'new' half life and i felt the need to try this again since NS was a superb game. Question is how is the game any different from when it used to be 2.1x and now? I haven't had the chance to look into 3.0 yet so i can't tell exactly and its been a while since i last played. I'm ASSUMING here, that 3.0 is much better since 2.0 had a lot of problems in bugs and balance issues, seems from general reading that people think balance still isn't an issue :S

Thanks for reading, hope to get some constructive answers on whats changed from 2.0 onwards smile-fix.gif

EDIT: On further reflection, this is probably the wrong forum. Sorry for that mods, feel free to move if need be smile-fix.gif

Take a look a this nice changelog index

I guess the best way to appreciate the differences is to play it again?!

They changed the bite radius between 2.0 and 3.0

It might not be in the changelogs; but you could defintely feel it when everyone jumped from 2.0 to 3.0. The range stayed the same; but now the person your biting has to be dead center in your screen; it cant be a little off to the side like it used to be in 2.0.

biggest change? combat.

Combat was introduced in 2.0, or has combat changed a lot since then? I dunno, I refuse to play it tounge.gif

Not exactly...

The last public version of 2.0 was 2.01. There was a version 2.1 planned, and Combat was introduced during the beta for 2.1, but never released. As the beta continued and changes stacked up, they changed the name and called it 3.0. So the first public version with Combat was 3.0.

You should give it a shot, its actually the funest way to play NS since 3.0 (all the gameplay changes favor co, IMO). You know, assuming you cand find a vanilla CO server, they're practically extinct. Xtralevels and whatnot suck.

from the 3.0 beta 1 changelog:
Extensively tested - Extensive playtesting with over 100 NS clans and hundreds of Constellation members will mean the most balanced and fun NS yet.

You're right, it's damn hard to find a vanilla CO server nowadays. I still remember when it was the opposite, and Extralevels were practically unheard of.

Natural Selection: Combat is a new fast and furious gameplay mode focusing on intense action. Combat games generally last less than ten minutes, and require very little knowledge to play. (emphasis added)
