If nannites can form a structure out of nothing, I don't see it as a leap in logic that during this process there is a period where the structure isn't fully solid, and can be dissipated by contact with bacterium.

Yup! I agree, I just figured a) I needed a way to explain it fully to he who will not be mentioned and, b) it would be a good jump start for this forum!
