I use a different sens for each lifeform. I have the CPL mouse acceleration fix, with mouse filter off. The highest is Lerk, at 17. The lowest is marine at 12.
I used to use 6-9, but, with the acceleration fix, you have to raise your sens quite a bit to compensate. It will mess up your aim as you get used to it, but I've found my aim a lot better for it.

where can i get that fix and why exactly do i need it?
is mouse accel automatically turned on in hl?

:edit:
nby the way, as mentioned in every sens-discussion, those values mean nothing because windows sens is likely to be different
:edit2:
i use 2.5 for everything

this is stupid because it depends on so many factors including resolution refresh rate mousetype area code place of birth mothers maidan name etc
BUT I USE 2.5 FOR MARINES AND 2.8 FOR ALIENS THIS MEANS SOMETHING

everyone needs to learn and communicate their sensitivities in terms of revolutions-in-game per mouse-physical-distance-moved.

Marines: across the mousepad = ~190-200 degrees
Aliens: across the mousepad = ~380-400 degrees

An above reasonable sensitivity plus mouse acceleration.

http://ftp.thecpl.com/mouse_fix.zipTo turn off mouse accel in WinXP. I don't use it and didn't realise mouse accel was on. Aim's not my strong point anyway

Write a thread on it. Some people will read it, even less will understand it. Of those, only a few will try and use it. They'll probably mess it up, too.

do i "need" that mousefix for win2k too?
or is it really just xp?
those 2 share some similarities

I get 44 degrees per inch, Pain User gets around 35 iirc, either SycknesS or Nadagast gets about 45 degrees per inch iirc, the rest of former Exi.NS gets 45-50 iirc.

Im going to use this. If I lose my ability decently to aim its your fault.
Edit: It doesnt seem to have changed anything I guess I have had it off. Anyone know how to turn mouse accel on?

i used CPL mouse fix for about 3 days and i removed it.
My sens is @ 2.5 for everything.
Ya BlueNovember, thats the one.
As I said, this thread is purely out of curiosity.
I guess mouse accel is a matter of preference. Once I got used to it, I prefer it off.
Also, you might be getting some mouse accel from any drivers you installed. Unless your mouse really needs it, or you need it (MX mice come to mind), I would suggest removing them as well.

http://ftp.thecpl.com/removemousefix.zipi use mouse acceleration, so do quite a few other players I know. There are downsides to mouse accel, for games that require absolute precision (cs), mouse accel isn't so good. And mouse accel makes it so you really have to "feel" your sensitivity out. The same mouse pad and mouse and computer can yield different sensitivities to different people depending on how they move their mouse. But i find it's better for tracking and easier to do 180s with low-medium sensitivty and regular windows mouse accel. in this game precision aim isn't as important as tracking and dodging.
also i'm pretty sure to turn off mouse accel in halflife you have to go to half-life properties in steam and add this to the command line. from what i remember the cpl mouse fix only affects desktop acceleration and command chair acceleration not regular game acceleration.

WOW, i noticed a HUGE differance without mouse accel, i thought i had it turned off before, but apparantly it wasn't. my mouse feels so slow and sluggish without it... but i do a little better in DoD.

It should be much easier to track targets. Although, once you go back (I don't know why you would) to mouse acceleration, it is very hard to get used to. My aim is near delta, but when I went to my brother's computer and played NS (he had mouse acceleration on), I got one kill out of 10 deaths...

36 degrees/inch as marine; 120 degrees/inch as skulk, gorge, and lerk; 90 degrees/inch as fade.
2.3 with both, using mouse acceleration (omg rofl what a nab)

Has been done a jillion times. Most people are too dumb to:
a) Move your mouse until you spin 360 degrees (aka make a full circle)
b) Measure the distance you just moved your mouse
c) Convert to degrees per inch
You'll lose 10% of most people after step A), you lose 40% more after step B) and don't even expect 45% of the remaining people to finish step C). The mentality of the average gamer is "I shoot good - bang bang dead skulk - [overused acronym here] [online colloquialism here]".

To be fair, that measurement is meaningless if you're using mouse pointer acceleration.
