EDIT* THANK GOODNESS I REMEMBERED TO PUT THIS BEFORE ANYONE POSTED

*CO MAPS ONLY!!!*

I didnt want to go into the bug section and say "This is a bug" because i didnt want to consider this as a bug... without a discution on it...

so anyways... lets say i go fade... and hive gets nailed, "We need GORGE ASAP!" then i say THIS ODD LINE!!!

"HOLD UP LET ME DIE FIRST SO IT WILL ALLOW ME TO CHANGE!" AND i will say that line even if i have an extra point!... because even with that extra point i cant change my class... i can understand that the way that its programmed it will use up the 3 points to go fade and you wont be able to reuse that... but they should maybe set it to where you can go back to skulk and reset your skill points so then you can start fresh... but really if anything they should make it where you can switch classes whenever so long as you have the required number of points... ANY REASONS WHY WE SHOULD KEEP IT WHERE I HAVE TO SAY:
"HOLD UP LET ME DIE FIRST SO IT WILL ALLOW ME TO CHANGE!"
wink-fix.gif I hope NOT! smile-fix.gif

Or implement the "kill" command in co_maps. (Why was it taken out in the first place!?)
Makes sense, if you have the points to go higher, go, or go lower for a refund.

(Edit: If negative = defecit, then positive = surplus, not neutral -nvm....)

YEAH YOU BASICLY HAVE TO GO INTO MARINE SPAWN AND KILL TILL YOU DIE IN ORDER TO GO TO ANOTHER LIFEFORM... right now its setup to where you cant even type kill in consol... YOUR FORCED TO KILL YOURSELF! I mean there is noway you cant change lifeform without adding a death to your score... i never understood this

They took it out because, suicide before getting eaten/killed = no exp for aliens and no exp loss for the marine.

Umm... it's the exact same thing in classic, by the way. And that's exactly why they implemented sv_killtimer or whatever - set by default to 3, in competitions to 7 seconds. That kind of prevents most lame suicides...

So I guess that could work. Or might make it easier, and just let people de-evolve, hmm? smile-fix.gif

Enough with the kill in consol... i want it to where you dont have to get a perminant marker and mark a death on your score just becasue you want to change lifeforms

This has been suggested before. Uh... let me see if I can pull up some links.

Combat Alien Level Correction, Yes a change to co :o

Ok, so this is the only link I have. If you read parasite's post, you can understand why, while it's a good idea, they don't want to put it in.

in normal ns maps, it takes res to de-evolve, and res flow is unlimited. so if you are a fade, want to de-evolve to a gorge to heal the hive, then evolve back to a fade, you have to face the penalty of wasting a lot of res.

but in CO, the amount of xp you get is limited up to level 10. so basically the only way you will be allowed to de-evolve is by getting your level points back, which will have no penalty.

if this is the case, then the hive is under attack etc etc and the aliens require a gorge, they will be able to de-evolve and evolve back again as they please, which is slightly unfair and will make it too easy for them.

i dont see how this is a good point... and it costs nothing to deevolve back to skulk on ns maps... so lets say your penalty is waiting the time to go skulk... then going to the new life form... he doesnt mention anything about that...i think its stupid that your REQUIRED TO KILL YOURSELF to CHANGE LIFEFORM... i dont see how that can be supported
Theslan
You'll have to ask parasite for this. All I can say is that I believe the devs are trying to put emphasis on the gorge in co... instead of a 'wasted' class which you just deevolve, heal the hive/others, then go back to the 'fighting' class again.

I think that's why... but I'm not so sure.
BadMouth
If memory serves me correctly, parasite said it was so unbalancing as a fade could go back to thei hive, de-evolve into a gorge, heal the hive, then go back and start fighting again. So basically, one person can take on many roles. Like someone goes lerk, spores people's armour off, then goes fade to finish them.

For the record, combat needs a compleat reworking, but once that's happened this is an idea I'd like to see implimented. Being locked in isn't fun, expecially if I want to practice fade but am stuck as a healing gorge, or lerk, or anything like that.

yea it sux being blocked into one class, your forced to put yourself to death... you LITERALY have to kill yourself to change class, now with this multiple class switching thing... i dont consider that a problem in comparison to this...
Parasit3
theslan has got it more or less right there... and that's why we are supposed to have a thing called teamwork

yes i know it can get pretty boring being locked in your current class...

i'll leave it open...maybe you guys can think up some penalty to even it out. and no not that "time wasted gestating" bs

An old topic that really had no solution, I'm wondering what anyone thinks of this...
