great looking
solcott
very nice looking concept.

i decided i wanted to learn to model the other day and decided i'd take a wack at making something(more complex than a box).

so heres what i have after about 2 hours of trying to figure out how lightwave works haha nerd-fix.gif

LupinThe3rd
eh, thanks

anyone notice something that they think should be different?

i dont like the way the sights look, but i cant think of many other ways to draw em to look better...
NEX9
yeah but this is what ya get from a concept lupin, how ever yte model 3ds it thats what ya gotta accept, untill you get sevral others who 3d it as well then you get to pick and choose, some times you will find some one you can ask and htey will fix and change it a little more to what you drew or want, but ya cant really be that fussy with work you arnt doing your self, that you havent payed some one to do
LupinThe3rd
no, thats not what i meant, i think the model is great, kinda why i keep trying to model myself...

but i mean, the concept, what should i shange, suggestions?

infact, PM if you finish with that model solcott ^^
solcott
i will, i expect to finish it sometime on monday, cuz im going "picniking" wink-fix.gif with my wife tomorrow, however i have no clue how to mesh/skin/animate so the modelling part is as far as i can go smile-fix.gif
solcott
its almost done, this screenshot is from lightwave because the model goes all crazy when i import it into milkshape (thats probably a bad thing sad-fix.gif ) all i have left to go is the rear sight, trigger/triggerguard, those grips on the handle and the magazine

how did u made that hole
solcott
well the model is as complete as i can make it.

heres a render of the complete model(unskinned, i just assigned flat colors to diff parts of the model)

and heres the download for the lightwave source if anyone wants to mesh/skin/animate it
http://www.olcottfamily.com/lmg.lwo

the polycount is 1159(and i wasted like 200 polys putting the holes in the trigger ), which is kind of high for a model this low quality, but im sure thats just because i have never touched a modeling program until last friday and dont really know what im doing tounge.gif.

@nogoodnickname

i made the holes by using the subtract tool, the way it works is the stock started out a s a box, and then on another layer i made another box in the shape i wanted the hole to be, and then used the subtract tool to "subtract" the contents of one box from the other.

Dont forget to curve the grip and add a ejection port on the right side. Looking good, we can always use a new modeller on these forums smile-fix.gif
solcott
o, i put the ejection port on the left side so that way the empty shells hit u in the face when u fire tounge.gif
LupinThe3rd
ooo, that looks purty

good job solcott ^^
