I wish I could say this desktop image is my creation, but it's not. For anyone interested, my desktop is randomly-selected on startup from this site:
http://www.salientimages.com/"These images are a work on paper. They are printed from a 10k x 10k image file, 36" x 36". I wrote a variety of proprietary softwares to create and parse large datasets into drawing primitives. Source datasets can contain from 3,000,000 to 18,000,000 data points in 3d space. This is sorted into 50,000 to 300,000 line elements. Production time ranges from 2 days to 1 week per image. My website contains an extended series.
"In order to represent these images on a web site they must be reduced in resolution by 90%. The actual works are a minimum of 3 feet square. The actual line weight is equivalent to that of a 0.2 - 0.3 millimeter pen nib, yet the large scale structure holds up when seen from a distance. This is an essential element of the experience of the works."

The dock only shows with my mouse over it so it's usually slightly emptier and of course, winamp isn't always there. Anyone know how to remove the recycle bin? Probably something really obvious or easy to search for but I've just never been bothered about it till I saw this thread.

I use a program called Tweak-XP Pro 4, and have disabled all icons from there, but it allows you to disable whatever it is you want. Pretty decent program, also, the trial version allows you to run it 30 times before it's disabled, so far i've run it once, which was when i initially set it all up, so i don't reckon it'll ever run out.

THank you both for those tips, I have run that reg file and removed the recycle bin (woo, ta) but I'm also downloading tweak-xp because I used to have an old version called tweakui a few years ago which was really cool, forgotten about it until now.
Thanks guys.

I like to keep it simple.
Icons hidden at the picture. Pressing a button "hides" 'em. 1337 :o

Used samurize and other stuff. And yea, it's "wip". Though it wont be never even ready.

I made it myself. Ideally the taskbar would be transparent, but I couldn't be bothered figuring out how to do that at the time.

no windows blinds or alternate shells. just a uxtheme.dll hack and a new .mstyles theme.
something of a weird mixture of minimalism and hodge podge disorganization.
