WIth the new version of NS I have had a probleml with dissapearing crosshairs. I can't get them back unless I get out of ns completely and get back in. I know this isn't just my machine because on a friends computer today he was playing and all of a sudden finds that his crosshairs, like mine, are gone. He also experienced the 2nd bug from the GL Bug thread a little under this one, which the Command Menu will pop up for no reason. It usually happens when I am getting attacked and it was under the same circumstances it happend on the other pc. On aliens it usually pops up when being skulk and hitting the attack button rappidly and getting attacked. I thought I may be hitting mouse2 on accident but when marines and holding down mouse1 and going full auto it has happened. So with a fresh install and 2 people who this have happend to I bet there are more who haven't said anything.

Moving to investigation in hopes of finding a reliable way to reproduce this bug.

I also have this problem (fairly recent, I don't remember what version but I'm pretty sure it never happened in 2.01).

I don't think I'm hitting mouse2 by accident...but it finally got so annoying that I unbound mouse2 and put popupmenu on the keyboard. It hasn't happened since. So maybe I was hitting mouse2---or could it be something like command bleed in the mousedriver software? I dunno, just throwing something out there.

I get both of these bugs and im using the originals. I unusally notice there gone when i get out para or my pistol. I have to restart NS to get it to go normal, seems more random then anything.

This happened with a set of crosshairs a while back, then I switched packs and it was gone. Perhaps a problem with old hud.txt or weapon_xxxx.txt files?

I've had this bug only since (I believe) 3.1.3 but it also happens in 3.2.

Basically it happens to me during alien evolution and when I get upgrades as marine in combat. I haven't ever experienced it as marine in ns, other than when I've switched after losing it as alien.

As far as I've found the only way to get them back is a ns restart.

This is all with custom xhairs, but I have used various sets including my own ones. Might try it with default ones see if I can re-create it.

ATI card if thats a consistency.

That's a good point, I use a key (not mouse) for popupmenu, but from when it appears it always would've been after using the popupmenu...maybe that's where the bug exists nerd-fix.gif

Bit of testing, its definately to do with the upgrade menu. I bounded some keys to the upgrade impulses + have never had it when using them. Possibly something to do with using a '+' skill like +forward when using the menu.

Our bug tracker is temporarily offline, so I can't get the details on this, but the problem that you experienced in 3.1 is confirmed as fixed. We have a documented mechanism for reproducing the 3.1 bug. It looks like another problem case has been introduced inadvertently, so I'll look into it. Any info you can give us on this problem will definitely help. Don't worry about what versions of the sprite files you have. If they display once, they should not disappear, and nothing in your .txt or .spr files would cause this problem.

Out of curiosity, do any of you who get the problem change your custom crosshair ( cl_customcrosshair ) a lot during play?
BOB_SLAYER
Nope. Not that I know of any way. Seems to be when I try and upgrade quickly. I'll, say, grab a shotgun or weapons 1 quickly, and no crosshair appears. I am yet to find a way to get the crosshair back short of restarting ns as well.

I too recently got the no crosshair bug, as did a few others on my server. I can't remember how it happned, i just realised there was no crosshair.

.....

HOLY THREDOMANCY BATMAN!

Honestly, just uninstall -> Delete the NS folder -> reinstall NS

buildmenu and xmenu are server side plugins.
