Similar to bug_id=0000415 but I did some research on this using other weapons.

Every weapon has a reloading time (in seconds) and a reloading animation, logically after the animation the gun is reloaded. While using the armory (holding down the use button) you freeze the timer counting your reload time but NOT the animation.

Example: You just emptied your grenade lancher, it's 0/16 and you press the reload button. The animation and the timer starts.
1. When you dont use the armory the gun will represent a 4/12 ammo count after the animation is finished.
2. When you press use and hold use the timer stops and the animation will continue, in the meanwhile you will have ammo at certain time intervals (~ every second). after the animation your ammo will be around 0/22. If you release the use button the timer continues (while there is no reloading animation!) until the full reload time is reached and your gun will display 4/18 after a few seconds
3. When you press use ONLY at the time interval which the armory deals out ammo (~ every second) the animation will play as usual. And the timer only freezes at the fraction of a second where you press use. This way you can gain ammo at regular speed and only lose a fraction of your reloading time.

I'm moving this to investigation so you can reply with any other results you have noticed. It is probably worth noting that the Grenade Launcher is kind of an odd case, because of the way the reload sequence works. Ditto for the shotgun, though it is worth remembering that there are differences in how reload works even between those two.

The Pistol/LMG/HMG would probably be the "normal" cases here, with the Shotgun and GrenadeLauncher being two seperate, but potentially related, edge cases.

You somewhat correct, it does halt the reload timer. It just doesnt let the reload timer finish its update. Meaning, if you get ammo from the armory with a gl the timer will still go, but it wont finish until you stop getting ammo. - This is true for the gl/lmg at least. (Not sure about the hmg)

Reproduction:
Get a Gl
Use all the shots
Start the reload
Immdeatly start getting ammo
The animation should still keep going
When you are about to put the fourt grenade inside stop getting ammo
You are now reloaded with extra ammo.

On a side note, I didnt think of this as a bug.

hmm it's not really a bug, but more some sort of an "abuse" you shouldn't be able to get ammo while reloading but you can.


for lmg/pistol/hmg are the diffrences close to 0
but the diffrence with the GL is huge, also note the wrong reloading when you dont have more then 4 grenades in reserve, you still put 4 grendes in the launcher.

As far as I can remember, it seems to happen with all weapons, but most notably the GL, when firing, weapon empty, then start using the armory. The reload animation will sometimes complete, and you will get a full weapon when you finish using the armory.

If it doesn't, then sometimes the weapon reload animation judders. Most notably with the LMG, which actually restarts whilst the armory is dishing out ammo. Might just be on my system, but it used to happen to a massive degree with the old CBL systems, on NSv.3F.

With all weapons except the shotgun, you can get more ammo from the armory whilst reloading, and if you hold down use until after the reload anim has finished, your 'loaded rounds' stays the same. However when you stop 'using' then your 'loaded rounds' is updated from your new 'reserve rounds' after collecting from the armory.

So basically, have an lmg with 30/10 rounds. You start reloading and humping the armory at the same time. When the reload anim finishes, you let go of your use key, and you have like 50/140.

This happens with all weapons afaik except the shotgun due to the differences in reload structure. With the shotgun when you start humping during reload, the animation continues but you 'loaded rounds' does not increase until you stop using the armory. Then the reload anim finishes with the pump anim, and you have to reload again to continue reloading.

also about the reload animation vs reload timer i also noticed that the reload timer for the GL is slighty shorter than the animation.

repro: shoot your gl to 0/x and press reload. Hold fire button. Notice the GL firing before it is actually reloading, and after firing the first nade it looks as if wants to reload again.
