| -Topic includes the name of the map, version number and it’s current status (wip/complete/playtest), As the map moves through the larger process, keep the title updated so it’s quite easy to tell where a map is in process. |
How do we change the topic title, to show the current state or development on the map? Do we have to PM a mod everytime it needs a status change?

You should be able to edit your original post, which 'should' give access to the title information..
Let me know if that's not the case.

It doesn't give you access to that, as near as I can tell.

I remember trying to change my thread title before UWE and I had to get Bob to do it, haven't tried since.
---
I PM'd Zunni some questions regarding the guidelines, and as per usual he had all the answers. I'm sure he won't mind me posting them here just in case anyone had the same questions.

- Who do we PM to change our topic titles, you, Bob? You should be a bit clearer on the version status bit, as some people do version changes for the tiniest of bug fixes and others work their way through a whole list before releasing a new beta.
|
You should be able to edit your original posts, and change your own topic titles..And it really doesn't matter if the change is 1 bug fix or 100 bug fixes, it should be clear that any presented version is different from the version before it (by version number) or if you don't want to give a "tiny" update a new version number, that's ok, just make sure when you are ready to, you take the time and edit your post.

- Including a layout scheme would be helpful as the lazier mappers will be able to copy and paste without missing out any important information.
|
A lazy mapper isn't a mapper whose map I want in the game.. Sorry, if they can't follow a small list of requirements, then they won't be able to accept feedback or update their map in a timely manner.. And I don't care if it's the second coming of ns_hera I'm not chasing after people.. My time is too valuable (and I don't have enough as it is )

- You should emphasise the fact that all the new maps will need to be balanced for clan play. Clan play has some important differences in terms of optimal r_speeds, lighting and layout. Some of the community's favourite maps would not be allowed in under these guidelines. I am slightly disappointed because I do think that there should be a place for competitive maps AND atmospheric maps.
|
That's not a requirement, some maps will play better for competitive play, and those that don't won't be used by CAL, and that's still OK. I think there are only 2-4 maps currently in NS that are truly good competitive maps, but the others are great fun and bring something special to the mapcycle.
The map has to be playable, it can be gorgeous but there's a FPS drop when you enter a specific room and that renders a map unplayable.. There can be innovative archetecture but if it causes players to pull out their hair while playing it, it's just not a good map design. I'm looking for good map design, CAL won't ensure a map makes it in, nor is it a pre-requisite to being accepted.

2 things:
1) I guess for now (until we get some sub-forum deal worked out) PM me your changes and I'll copy them in, please link the message as well as the text for the topic..
2) I have a list of maps I've given a once over and they seem to be in a position to be PT'd, my goal is to PM those mappers soon. At the same time, update your topics anyway..
