The Werewolf Game : Aquarium

Wow, the signups went really, really fast this time. Luckily, there is a good mix of inexperienced and experienced players, so this should be a good game. The following people will be playing:

Right, now lets get down to detail. The game will begin on Monday 2nd May, 19:00 GMT. There will be 18 people playing in the game, 4 of which will be wolves. Just before the game starts, i will send each of you a pm with your role in it. Please make sure that you have space in your inbox.

Once i post, it will be night one. The wolves will get 24 hours to pick who to kill. To do this, i want you to pick someone (It can be any wolf, you do not have to tell me who) who will send a pm to me with your choice. You can change your choice by sending me another pm, but please do not do this unless you absolutely have to. You can send me the pm at any time, but please remember that i need to write a story around it and i need a bit of time to do so. If i have not gotten a pm an hour before the night is scheduled to end, i will choose a human at random to kill.

I'm just going to note that I might be a little tied up at first - I'll be around for just a couple hours per real day, and I won't be as active as I have been previously until the weekend.

I think you're shooting yourself in the foot with the "first wolf victim counts" rule. I know (erm, I think) this is how Freak ran his games, I also know that I allowed the wolves to change their minds before the night was over. This DOES mean that you risk that they change their minds just before the night is over, forcing you to suddenly rewrite parts of the story, but it also means that the wolves will generally commit sooner, knowing that they can change their decision if it becomes absolutely necessary. And the wolves don't often change their minds, by my experience. And when they do, they'll usually be polite enough to let you know right away, giving you ample time to rewrite the relevant sections.
All in all, I think that allowing the wolves to change their minds will generally mean that you know their victim sooner, and have more time to write the story. I know that if I am one of the wolves, I will be hesitant to commit until shortly before the deadline. After all, what if we decide to wolf player X, then later change our minds to player Y? If we have already told you that player X dies, we can no longer change our victim to be player Y instead. And so, we will wait until we are absolutely sure about our choice before telling you.

Of course, there is another possibility: The wolves tell you who they have their sights on, but as long as the name isn't bolded, it doesn't count. Only when you are sent a PM with the bolded name does it count. But then we are effectively back to my model: The wolves can change their decision at any time. In the end, I think all sides will be better off if you allow them to just change their minds. Setting a deadline one hour before the night ends sounds reasonable though.

Just think this is my first ever TWG, and it could be that i'm wolfed without ever getting to play, now wouldn't that be ironic!!

Fair enough, i did not actually ask freak about that, and you definitely have more experience hosting than i do. After reading your post, it does make more sense than my plan. Of course, this leaves a large open gateway for abuse, but i suppose that the wolves are screwed if they have an abuser irrigardless of the rules. The new rule has been edited into the first post.

personally i hope i wont be wolfed again. close before the finish, even if my team wins after that :|

I have just had to change the game start time by two hours due to something unexpected. I have edited the first post and this should not make any difference but i might as well draw attention to it anyway, so there is no chance of anyone not knowing when the game starts.

This looks fun. I'm not too bad a RPer, might just sign up for the next wg.

We don't actually RP though. The game is more about being sneaky bastards, aka politics. All we do is throw groundless accusations at each other and see which stick ^_^

Well with the wolf kills, letting them change their minds before night ends I would suggest this. Set a time limit for night, no more than 24 hours. Don't ever end it earlier than you set it for or later than you set it for. This way players can't judge the night to be like "Oh night ended in only an hour! All the roles must be really active players!"

Indeed. Nights should never be extended or shortened, but should always end precisely at the appointed time.

Omegaman!, i have been having problems sending you a pm or email from the forums. It would be great if you could hop on irc, send me a forum pm or post your email so i can tell you what role you have

For anyone wondering, the reason there are problems is because Omegaman! has an exclamation point at the end of his name. Between all of the accounts being moved into the new system (which eliminated all punctuation (i miss my apostrophe)) and new people being able to use exclamation points in their names, problems like this have been created.
