Did a search and either got an error, or nothing has evere been brought up about this.

What is during CO maps, there were penalties for TK and self killing. Say you kill a teamate or yourself with a GL, you lose X amount of XP. If you go down a level you lose your last upgrade, kinda like an alien dying and going back to skulk.

I dont know about you guys, but i think this would make GL spam a little less, as well as people learning to aim on FF servers.

Kind of a dumb idea, but i get annoyed at GL spam always killing the guy, and TK's.

The only thing that would make this cooler is if xeno, gl, and hand grenades always did full damage to players, regardless of ff settings. I see far too much spamming of all the explosives. A xeno next to a marine attacking a gorge will probably kill the marine (assuming the gorge attacked it), and the gorge will survive. A gl fired into a group of marines will have no effect on the marines, but will devastate any aliens in it. Combine that with punishments for tking, and this would make spamming occur far less often. Note that I suggested these things only against other players, the ff setting would still affect buildings.

And people that attack their own hive/CC. There should be punishment for that.

I don't see much of that happening, actually. But the problem with GL spam is substantial - I agree, implement it, regardless of ff settings.

Not a good idea... What if you end up killing a bunch of Marines, and accidentally some teammates in the process?

I'm trying to say that there is no plausable way for the game to detect wether your TK was justified or not.

i don't think you should lose xp for killing yourself. i mean why should you? you don't harm anyone else in the process. but yes for losing xp when TKing.
as for damaging the cc/hive i think that the xp lost should be proportional or more than the xp gained if one is to weld/heal the cc/hive.

and what about level one players? do they get punished for TKing?

edit: hmm... thinking it through again what if someone is level 10 and TKs by accident? does it mean that he loses his level 10 ability because of that small little bit of xp lost by an accident TK? maybe have the xp bar be able to overflow above level 10 until it is full again, but not reach level 11 to prevent this?

Maybe if lvl 1 players take HP loss based on the amount of damage they do. Since a lvl 1 player is not likely to have a GL to spam pain to teamates.

It doesnt really have to be a justified TK. I just wish some people would learn to either aim or not play on FF servers. I know there are accidents, but i know i personally would be willing to take a hit for shooting or killing a teamate in a game. When i play CS (albeit rarely) if i TK, and there is a punishment system, I usually ask for a slay, since i should be watching where im shooting anyway. I dont give leniency and i dont expect it.

As for lvl 10 people..... well, they should be able to aim well enough to not shoot teamates if they are lvl 10, and if they do, it wont take much to get back to lvl 10 smile-fix.gif

Im actually suprised by the positive reaction to this idea smile-fix.gif I kinda thought it was dumb, but i just put it out there to see smile-fix.gif
