OK every other half-life and half-life 2 mod, including the counter strike works flawlessly. The sound on NS works fine at the main title screen too. But as soon as I select a server and enter a ready room all sound goes away. I have checked and my sound card has no updates avail.

I am using a radeon 9600 AGP card with the latest drivers, my sound card is up to date and works for all other half-life games! I am running XP with SP2 I have 1 Gig ram etc...

Any Ideas?

PS...I have made sure in the settings for NS that the sound is turned up and I have reviewed other FAQ's and tried enabling and disabling the A3D sound options, restarting Steam everytime to no avail.

One last thing I forgot to mention and that is - I have tried completely uninstalling NS and re-installing a fresh copy, following the installation guide very carefully, and still no sound when I choose a server and enter a ready room.
Doesn't anybody have any ideas?

I have the exact same problem i just bought a new sound card. It was working fine with my old sound blaster, and now that i bought audigy2 i can't hear anything when i enter ready room. Even i can't hear my winamp.
