Eh? No offense, but if you can only go as far as capping resource towers, you're not a "medium" commander (whatever that means. tounge.gif)

Obvious choices are... either start upgrades on armor or motion tracking (depending on what the aliens do), also get ready to do things like phase tech, and yes... secure atleast one hive as quickly as possible.

If your getting a lot of easy Rt caps, then get an arms lab up as soon as possible and start upgrading.

One of the worst things that can screw up a rine team is a comm not getting his upgrades. They help a hell of a lot.

At that point, save up res to either give all your guys shotguns, or to give them a heavy rush or something. Then march em to a hive, and take it down how you like.

Thats my 2cents on basic comming tounge.gif

Upgrades are key...

As long as you have a good marine team to command, have them move out towards hives and possibly drop phase gates if you have plenty of res. if you have that much res tho, it would be wise to keep upgrades going and think about dropping your rines shotties to finish off a hive.

its all up to you and the best way to learn is to practice and learn how to command.

that's the wonderful thing about being a commander, you call the shots.
Evocation
If you have a lot of resource towers, KEEP upgrading. If you have like 70 res, give out shotguns at base and tell them to pressure alien nodes (if they're a good team).

If you're really stuck, go rush a hive to burn time.
Lofung
do the upgrades.
put pgs in hives.
if u r not confident enough to move ur troops efficiently, lock up the middle hive.
tech up fast. distress for toys and gg.

or, just get 100 res distress and sg gun down theh hive.

btw, like others say, learn more.

I know what he is talking about... A marine team that gets an early advantage and caps say 6-7 resource nodes fast will be spread VERY THIN... and with no achieavable goal... will simply get pummelled....

From here i like to dual armslab rush, and have people simply defend the further most nodes...

Two large groups at your farthest reaching nodes... and you instructing each marine spawning in where to reinforce to (nodes under attack, ect) will allow you to hold and continually recap....

As soon as A2W2 is complete... beacon and rush a hive with a PG and a few shotties/hmg's depending on how far the AA is along....

The important thing is dont sit back and electrify everything and turret.... KEEP Up the pressure

if you dont keep up the pressure, ull lose all that res you invested because the aliens will retaliate and take down every single node/tf you have placed while your marines regroup in base

ok this is what i do when i comm..
Ip & armoury, send most of team out too cap res but 1 or 2
Armslab, depending on how the team is doing with the capping i get a obs,
i start to reaserch a1, and when i see i have nuff res and its stable i upgrade, also i might start to get an advanced armoury
i research MT and Phasetech...
by now i ussaly have most rts... if its a good team.

this is where i get stuck plenty of res a1. w2/3.
So know what your saying is for me to defend furest res nodes or bacon and shotty rush?

oks sounds good.

what do i do with a **** team? lol

well, if you're not meeting a lot of resistance, have a lot of nodes, etc... go ahead and drop the proto, then go with HA or JP, whatever you feel like.

if your team sucks, you'll have to work with them a little more closely, but will probably end up losing.

secure atleast one hive as quickly as possible.

This would be a waste of time if the aliens have the middle hive. They'll just put the free hive up, and you would've wasted time and res on locking down / securing a hive you don't really need.

If you have a lot of res, upgrade (armory, arms lab, obs). The armory should be upgraded asap. A second obs could also be handy, so you don't loose solely coz of a lone fade / onos that get's the first one. Give out guns and mines. Start pressuring alien nodes, and make sure you keep the ones you have by sending marines there as soon as they get attacked.

Turrets suck, use mines. Let's say your playing tanith, and aliens have satelite. Instead of laming up fusion / cargo with turrets, dump an armory and give out mines, shotties and welders. 4 mines cost the same as a turret, and have a higher chance of killing fades + you don't need to build em, only put em on da ground. Hope that your rines there don't get killed if you don't have Phase Tech yet smile-fix.gif

edit - forgot my own personal strat. Rt's > 2nd Hive. Most important thing in a game is rt's imo. Get as many as you can, but more importantly, get alien rt's down. Getting 2 alien rt's down early game can be gamewinning. Make sure the 2nd hive doesn't go up. 2nd hive = alien win in 80% of the games I play. If it isn't up yet, get a pg in the hive if you can, and hand out mines and shotties. If it isn't possible to get in, or it's up and defended, siege. Have a player go out and recap rt's if you've lost some of them. Keep teching. Win tounge.gif
