First off, sorry if a thread like this already exists, or if you don't see the need for it. I think if everyone posted their bugs/issue at the same place, we would have a cleaner forum and less repetition.

-Please clearly state bugs that you know for a fact is a bug. Don't post something like "doors won't open". Either that door is simply un-openable or you haven't learned to use the "USE" key.
-Before listing a bug, please search through this thread. Chances are, if you are experiencing said bug, other people are too, and maybe they already posted about it.
-Please be as concise and precice has possible.
-Give an exemple / situation about the bug.

I'll list the ones I encountered (and can remember tounge.gif ). I know these may have been posted in individual threads scattered around these forums, but if we can all put em at the same place, maybe it could help the dev team (saves time).

1. As a marine, my minimap (on the HUD) doesn't seem to work properly. I see the basic map layout, but there are no indicators (myself, teammates, ressource nodes, etc...)
2. Sometimes, when reloading weapons, the number from my "remaining ammo" doesn't decrease, although the number of my "current clip" increases.
3. As an alien, when I use the "quick access" menu, some of the text selection won't disapear when I close the menu.
4. As a Gorge, I've been often trapped in some sort of clipping problem when building ressource towers or chambers.
5. As an alien, sometimes the cloaking ability doesn't "kick in". Even if I'm perfectly immobile (and I have the needed evolution in cloaking), I won't become invisible.
6. Some of the things you said were fixed in the patch don't seem to be. Maybe it's because the servers I played on didn't correctly install the patch (even though they list their server has being a 1.01 server) though.

That's it, I know I've encountered more, but I have a terrible memory sad.gif

7: Hives being damaged by your own team. This should NEVER happen, no matter what. This as as abuseable as #8. Other structures maybe - but the hives - well there's no possible reason to attack it as an alien other than TO ruin it/be a spoiler.

8: Players jumping teams and kicking the enemy commander. The game should not allow you a commander "Vote" until you've been on the team for at least 3-5 minutes.

Both allow spoilers to ruin the game for the rest of us.

I just said this in a different post, but it looks like it belongs here....

Moving backwards and shooting spit (as a gorge) doesn't work. The spit stops right in front of you...

(probably due to momentum being added to spitball and it being inside you or something when it is created/first moved)

Hives are only damaged by your own team when Tournament Mode is on...which is full friendly-fire. So don't play on servers with that. tounge.gif Easy.

But the question is WHY would you make the hive killable by your own team? They are WAY WAY up on the ceiling - you have to be aiming for them on puropse.

All other structures in tournament mode, sure - but the hive should be exempt. It's a huge gameplay imbalance when people can act as spoilers.

I've not played on a tournament mode server(which seems to be gaining in popularity) where this hasn;t happened sooner or later - it's just too inviting given the length of the matches.

***Gorges building chambers on top of one another. This can be used to block elevators in maps like NS_Nothing where the elevator comes down, hits the chamber, and turns around. It never gets close enough to allow even a skulk to slip through or a grenade to bounce through.

***Aliens can get "hung up" when entering vents where welds are not yet in place. You do not stay stuck but it costs you a half second which could prove deadly.

***If an alien remains perfectly still and the cloaking towers are destroyed they get permacloak. They will stay cloaked even while moving and or attacking.

***As alien, on occasion when a map starts my bite and parasite are redded out meaning I supposedly cant use them. I still can but the animation doesn't play meaning I can bite without having my vision destroyed. I actually quite enjoy this but know it was not your intent.

BTW, when you were immobile and cloak didnt kick in it was because they had a sensor nearby which prevents you from using your cloak. Range is far too great and should be reduced big time.

siege.gif Siege Turret muzzle flash doesn't match up with it's firing. (The barrel snaps back from "firing" but the muzzle flash goes continuously.)

AND IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY NOISE.
Yeah, yeah I know it fires sonically or some crap. But I'd like to know WHEN it's firing, and be able to hear it. I hope it's not SUPPOSED to fire silently. And why does a sonic cannon have a muzzle flash anyway??

asrifle.gif Yeah, the marine HUD map is really annoying, you can't tell anything from it. Could we possibly get observatory blips on it too please?

asrifle.gif Also, armories give out HALF A CLIP at a time?? HUH? (ie, using a LMG, I get 25 bullets at a time from using an armory.)
1) How is that logically possible?
2) Why the heck does it do that?? Can we PLEASE get full clips at a time?

tiny.gif Onos clipping problems... where to begin? They get stuck EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME. It also seems like they can go places/do things they shouldnt be able to. For example Onos can climb ladders?? It seems like their model clipping size is much smaller than the model looks.

This one time, me and this guy were evolving into fades on top of this grate...i think it was ns_hera. It was all the way on the west side, right by the elevator. After evolving, we were stuck under the grate. Then a marine came and killed us, and the def towers we set up, that sucked. I guess the problem would be spawning under func_walls, id do some more testing, but im too lazy.
Also i was gonna mention the siege turret thing, not only does it not match up, but it needs the sprite removed, its not fire damn it! unless...you could see sound, also i hear a sound when the siege turret fires, its this big BOOM.

1. EAX sound bug...go underwater, come back up....sound stays underwater.
2.Models disapear ALOT!
3.Gorges can build on top of thier teamates (or themselves) and get them stuck.

5.Marine mini-map needs to rotate with view or have some type of direction indicator.(if there was one I missed it somehow)
6.Marine mini-map should have blue blips for teammates and green for res. towers.
7.Commander HUD needs a menu that displays troops names.
8.Commander HUD needs to display name (below mini-map) of area under pointer in mini map.
9.Commander HUD mini-map blips need to be more comprehensive.
10.That lady in command station needs to shut up tounge.gif
11.Do not display individual scores.

I've been a gorg, and sometimes when i attempt to make an offense chamber, on say a railing, it just makes it and then sinks, down, down, down, down, down, forever and ever and ever and ever, eternal descending offense chamber.


Also there are issues occasionally with being a skulk and climbinb ladders. Sometimes it just doesn't let me! i end up going a long way up.

Another Bug:

If you die and are in chase-cam, pressing f4 to go to ready room will put your body in teh ready room, but your view stays in chase cam.... its rather impossible to find a team like that =\

I did this as an alien... I joined server, joined alien team, and before spawning i realized i needed to be a marine so i hit f4 to go to ready room and the autohelp said "you are in ready room" and my view jumped around... but now i was just in chasecam in the middle of nowhere, unable to do anything. yuck.

Bug # X: Fade teleportation is unstable.
Bug # X+1: When you want to switch weapons (cause let's say your LMG is out of ammo, and you see another LMG on the floor), while throwing your LMG (your selected weapon), the game will also throw your pistol/weilder on the grownd.

Siege turret shooting a building over and over and never killing it. We couldn't get close enough to find out what was wrong, all we saw was an invincible offensive tower that turned one hallway into a death trap of splash damage every few seconds. Someone else on the team said he had seen it happen before, so I guess it's a reproducable bug. I believe the offensive tower had just been started and was never actually completed before the turret began firing on it. We had to destroy the siege turret to stop the madness, even with friendly fire on I couldn't destroy the offensive tower.

skulk.gif can run right into the middle of the Turret factory and be almost as if there inside it..

There a freaking pain to shoot and turrets dont hit them...

1: If you evolve on a grating or walkway of some kind, when the evolution completes you will be moved under it. I notice this happening mostly with Fades, but I think it's happened with something else. Ordinarily this is just an inconvenience, but on one level I happened to evolve while on a grate covering a vat of liquid. I was trapped under the grating and had to suicide. 47 credits for a Fade down the toilet.

2: I get stuck repeatedly with Blink. I've noticed it happens frequently if I'm targeting a wall with blink and happen to target lower down on the wall (get stuck in the ground, I think). It's happened a few other times with odd-shaped surfaces.

1: Weapon switching brings a funky weapon model into view when you are commanding.
2: buildings that are not completely built are often invulnerable.
3: getting stuck in buildings as aliens(i know this has been said) - to get out of this i evolve to a skulk then move and re-evolve.
4: as for getting stuck in func_worlds, i haven't experienced this, except for human turrets going thru grates and being un-killable. this is extremely annoying.
5: no proper weapon switching- this is a bug. yes. a bug. fix it. (although i have made an alias set to do it for me)

Im not sure if this just happens for me, its not really that annoying but u might as well fix it too.

When I keep the trigger pressed when using a HMG and run out of bullets, the muzzle flash just keeps going as long as you keep the attack button pressed.

It only stops when u release the button.
Not really a big deal, but still. tounge.gif

And that bug when building with gorge is annoying, chambers just sinking down into the void.
I would love to knwo where they go.
Do they just fall down somewhere and still gets built in the void or something? wink.gif

Other irritating bugs:
-When you walk over a weld, sometimes the game will switch your current selection, to the weld. Most unpleasant when you inadvertently step on a lost weld while confronting aliens.

-If you stay on the spawn portals too long, you'll inevitably get telefragged. It's a pain in the royal a$$ when you're typing an urgent message.

-Could you make all the player built buildings (turrets, chambers, etc..) be similar to func_illusions (or wathever the term is for brushes you can step trhough). It's VERY VERY irritating when you get stuck between turrets, or when you're trying to escape a rabid skulk in the middle of your base / trying to hunt a fresh marine in their base...

-If a commender drops a turret or building ON YOU, you get stuck in it and need to suicide yourself (you lose one frag, and gain a death).
-If a gorge builds a chamber at the same time you're moving here he wants it, you get stuck under it.

Okay, so I'm a gorge and I'm defending my chambers. What would prevent me from getting inside the chamber and healing it from there. The marines would be unable to hit me, since I was inside the chamber . . .

Same with marines. I would get inside the turret factory and defend a farm. biggrin.gif

Alright how's this one:

-Sometimes seige turrets do absolutly no dammage to alien chambers and simply continue to fire indefinatly and any aliens atempting to pass by are injured.

It is NOT a seige cannon doing damage and the def chamber healing it. I watched as a seige cannon fired at a single offencive chamber next to a single defence chamber and NEITHER ever took dammage. I was looking right at the green bars and they never went down.

I was commander in this game and i put 2 more seige cannons down to no affect. I got fed up and when to look for myself and that's how i saw it did no dammage at all. I also played one of those sensor beacons to watch the health as commander 3 times and never once did i see any of the structures hurt.

Then i went in with an HMG and killed the off chamber in a matter of seconds, it wasn't invincible, the seige cannon wasn't DOING anything. I've heard other people claim the same thing, and the targets didn't even seem that far out at all.

Oh, 1 more, sometimes the command minimap continues to display a blue dot even after our structures have been destroyed. Or continues to display a red dot even after we've destroyed the alien structures there. This also happens somtimes with marines laggnig out (timeing out) and their green dot stays on the hud the entire game.

New super irritating bug:

If a commander drops an ammo pack, and you have a welder out... you get welder ammo. WHICH IS TO SAY THE AMMO PACK GOES AWAY AND YOU GET NOTHING.

I'd like to add that in OpenGL, the mini-map is extremely over-contrasted and washed out. It's just not working right. I have a Nvidia TNT2 card, which is pretty much industry standard(actual Nvidia brand card, not third party or OEM).

(to person who complained of models disapreaing, probably what yu're refering to is a cloaked alien, pres your flashlight key (f by default) to turn your hivesight on, you'll now see all cloacked aliens)

A fully cloaked alien's name tag still shows up on the marines huds. It's realy annoying being fully cloaked and haveing the marines just scan around untill they see your name show up and open fire.

I've also had cloak not engage even when there was no observatory inrange. I know this because I over ran the base about 1 min later.

The blink purple cloud is visible to the commander always.

I think alien spawn points should be marked somehow and code should be added to prevent you from building on top of them. I have spawned stuck inside an array of defensive and offensive structures around a hive before. confused.gif

Maybe you could make like little orifaces the same size as infantry portals, so players know where not to build. Just a thought. Not a big deal since it has only happened once... but some llamma could always spam around the spawn area if they want to stop aliens from spawning there.

And about the "welder ammo" bug, I think when you collect an ammo pack, it should be split among all relevant weapons you currently have, since the ammo pack is actually a nanotech pack that you press a button and it creates the right grade of ammo, this would make sense in the game world.

That way if your HMG runs out of ammo and you switch to pistol, and the Commander drops an ammo pack on you, you'd get back maybe the 3 shots of pistol you've already fired, and the rest of the ammo pack's contents would be converted into HMG ammo. You'd still have to reload when you switch back to the HMG, so I don't think it'd be TOO overbalancing... just slightly more convenient, and it works within the NS backstory.

Of course, if running out of ammo is what makes the marines vulnerable to alien attacks in the first place, then I guess you definitely shouldn't mess with it.

My NS shortcuts do not work. I know they kept telling us that the desktop shortcut is bugged, but my other one doesn't work either. AND even if I simply load the game with the regular HL.exe, go to customise game, and select NS, my filters still won't work (wich means I have to update 27000+ servers) and once I do find an NS server (damn you CS with your 20000 servers), it tells me that I need to install the proper mod to play on that server....

So, I end up using GamespyArcade, wich is a royal pain in the a** since you have ads everywhere, the list of NS server is incomplete, and it uses up system ressources.

Run it through the start menu and it works. Really weird bug. BTW, thats not a sig, I tend to post fun images to prove a point.

They're rather lousy images. I demand quality!

And sometimes the filter just flat out doesn't work, even from a working link. I like to start a different mod, filter for NS, and then activate NS, but I have no idea if that actually fixes things consistently or just makes me feel better.

I would like to say that sometimes the siege cannon IS bugged. I've been an alien, watched a gorge make an offensive chamber, immediately the siege cannon fires, and the gorge is killed. The unbuilt tower proceeds to weather five or six hits from the siege cannon before it is taken out by a marine spamming a few grenades. It's not a commander view thing, it is a very real bug.

As for the minimap problems, I tweaked the minimaps and you can download them in THIS THREAD. This isn't offically sanctioned, but I don't see the harm in it, because I didn't tweak the images in any way than changing the background colors.

Speaking of the marine minimap, it would be really excellent if the marines using mic's in games would flash on the minimap or something like in CS. It is really hard to find people when they use their mic and say they need health and don't give a location. I wind up checking every green blip on the map to look for him and by that time he is usually dead.

Marines are unable to fully reload all their ammo using an armory sometimes (esp with the machine gun)

Commanders still see dead bodies on their minimap.

Gorges building towers on certain terrain (usually grating) sometimes have the tower just start sinking into the floor.

So, I have no working shortcuts, and even the shortcuts I make (hl.exe -ns) won't work, and even if I run hl.exe, then go to customise, then NS, it still won't work.

As for marines reloadin' sometimes you can't fully load (it happens when you have a lmg with 235+ bullets, cause 235+25= 260, wich isn't meant to be, but if you have under 230 bullets, let's say 228, then you can end up with an extra clip that'd make 228+25 = 253).

Siege turrets: well, in some cases, the cannon will shoot, YOU will die, but all alien buildings will stay at full health.

Not sure if this is entirely related to NS, but here goes. Since I installed NS, a lot of the time I play *any* HL mod the WON server listings go wonky. The initial connect takes several retries, and then if I update the server listing it ignores the filter and tries to download the entire list of 26,000+ HL/CS/NS/etc servers. Rebooting/reconnecting to the internet doesn't seem to help. This seems to happen at random. This happens in all my HL mods now, but it started with NS. Is there something I can reset to get rid of the problem?

For marines, when teleport, you see the place you are getting to, THEN you see the flash. Very annoying and i can't get out some of the times

The problem with having no-clip objects... it's significant. Let's look at it this way, if you can go through ONLY YOUR OWN TEAM structures, then people will start building turrets in a totall-blocking-off-wall fashion, which would change the play dynamic all over again, turning walls of turrets into roadblocks which teammates can get through effortlessly, but not enemies, even if the things AREN'T shooting at them.

If the structures were no-clip to EVERYONE, then the alien turrets become drastically less effective, becuase the marines can run right through them instead of having to go over them or destroy them. And how would you shoot such an item with a non-hitscan weapon? Also, what would stop a skulk from going INSIDE the turret factory and biting it or something freaky like that?

I do not think this will work whichever way you do it.

To the point of quick menu options not going away, I found this to be a case of lag, like if your ping is up to 800 and you select something from the quick menu some of the menu will stay. You just reselect that part of the menu and it'll go away. But I bet you already knew that....

Also, I guess this is a bug and a minor one at that but if your reloading your weapon and start to "build" something(at the same time) the commander spawned, you'll "build" but only every other second because it will constantly bring your weapon backup, take it down to build, bring your weapon up, take it down to build over and over. So you'll have to stop and let the reload animation finish before you can build regularly again.

I've seen two graphical glitches of some annoyance in the game:

1. After a weapon station has been upgraded, it appears to be at zero health. It functions and can be destroyed, but its health bar has always appeared empty to me, regardless of attempts to use, repair, or damage it. No other station shows that problem, to the best of my awareness.

2. In some games, I can't turn my flashlight on as a human. Never had a problem with it as an alien, but for some reason it just doesn't seem to function for humans. My roomie has the same difficulty. I believe that I saw an option in the server menu for 'enable flashlights' or something of that nature, and I can confirm that flashlights were enabled on the server side.

Both my roomie and I are using Geforce 4 4400s on Windows XP Pro, in OpenGL mode, in case the issues are unique to that video card or OS.

As a marine, I got Hvy Armour, had a battle and tried to get replacement armour but couldnt, even after the armour was worn down to 0.
Also as marine, flashlight turns off when walking into a new room/section.

Two easy ones - in the on-screen hints for the turret factory, it still says that the turrets continue to function without it. And it says that skulks have to press the duck key to climb up walls.

Everything you said about the whole "non-clip" structures is true, but still, it'd be nice to have a solution to the whole "Damn!., construction workers built a turret ON ME without noticing it...."

Also, when I said I created a hl.exe -ns, I did do hl.exe -game ns, I just forgot to write it. So, all my ns shortcuts (even the start menu one, or ones I create myself) won't work. It ain't a big deal, but it's just irritating.
