OK, here's the latest. I offered to help Moogle out by researching some possible venues for the LAN (to be held in the Portland, Oregon area). I found a place that would probably work great, but it's totally booked on Fri-Sun, June 24-26. However (at least for now), it's open on the following weekend (Fri-Sun, July 1-3). The next day, July 4, is a national holiday, so it may make it easier for some folks to come but harder for others. Since many people work, trying to cram in activity on Friday evening would likely not be cost-effective, so I'm thinking that having an all-day event on Saturday (spilling over into early AM Sunday) would work the best. Now, in order to be able to book a venue, an accurate headcount is essential. If you want to attend the LAN, please respond below with the following info:
1. Do you want to attend the LAN?
2a. Can you attend the LAN if it will be held on Saturday, July 2nd?
2b. If you answered no to 2a, what nearby date (if any) would work for you?
3. Will it benefit you if the LAN venue is near public transportation (i.e., MAX light rail)?
4a. If you attend, will you need a hotel room?
4b. If you answered yes to 4a, would you be willing to share a room with other attendees?
(If enough people need rooms, then a group rate can probably be arranged with a hotel.)
5. What is the most that you would pay to attend the event itself (for only admission and parking)?
(It is extremely important that this question be answered accurately, since it is a major factor in determining the venue. The cost will be kept as low as possible, since this isn't a commercial event.)
6. Are you interested in helping with the setup and/or cleanup?
7. What games (other than NS) do you want to play while at the LAN?
8. Do you have any servers (game, voice comm, etc.) or network equipment that you could bring? If so, what, specifically?

You left out something very important... -where- is it? Same place as the last one which I'm guessing is in Oregen according to the big giant many colored letters in the first post?
If it is, I can't come

GoDlol : that could probably be arranged. Once this survey is complete and the registration site is up, make sure to note it when you regsiter. Hopefully there will be some kind of field for this on the registration form. If possible, could you reply with answers from each of those friends (if they're not on the NS forums)?

are there gonna be other devs there? i live in canada, and i might be interested in attending if i could meet some of the devs, if it doens't get too expensive, that is. i've been to washington, but never been to oregon. if i decide to go, i'll have to renew my passport, which will cost $140 in addition to what the trip, hotel, and party will cost me.

You'll be on your own to provide fodder for mastication (that's food to chew, for those too lazy to use a dictionary), but there are several restaurants nearby. Assuming that enough people want to come, the cost of the event should be well under $30.

I won't be able to make it due to the difficulties in going from St. Louis to the west coast.
However, I might still be able to help. FR31NS is, after all, a west coast server. I would be more than happy to donate it to you guys for the night to use. I'm sure it might work better than someone's desktop to host an NS game, and the pings should all be in the 30's for you.
Just a thought.

I wish I could be there in body guys, but at least I'll be there in spirit.

Forgetting your account info and having to make a new one is fing great! so anyways:
(1) Oh yeah! I'll gladly represent 707 solo or with the herd if possible.
(2) If I can find a ride from nor cal to the depths of oregon, yes.
(3) No
(4) Yes, unless somebody would like to let me creep into their house and infest it. Or I could split the cost of a hotel room, ghetto style to save $ hopefully.
(5) I'd hope to pay as little as possible, $25 max?
(6) I'll get really drunk and watch the drones cleanse the intruders, doubt that counts.
(7) Whatever I can leech off of somebody else's computer, anything good, not WoW.
(8) Nothing, maybe a **** dlink router.
I'm hoping some1 will be kind enough to port me there and then allow me to infester their house while I'm there, email me at x707xslayer@gmail.com if you can help in either of those departments.

this is a cool little place in Portland Oregon. They charge 21.00$ a night for non-members 18$ for members. I have stayed here a few times it is mostly international travelers, its a dorm and has 24hour a day access, a kitchen, some free food and free wi-fi access. This is a great deal as most hotels in the area cost 60+ a night.
Hosteling internationalOf course people (ns players) in the area i'm sure will house visitors, this is a fun place to stay in Portland, with cool people from around the world, and it is a great price.
Just thought i would suggest it to travelers that would like a place o say dureing the LAN.

Would there be a place for a van to stay nearby for my group to sleep in?
We really don't want to pay for a place to stay. Was hoping, if possible, near someone's house, so we could shower, brush teeth, or whatever. I'm trying to convince some friends/clannies to come up there with me (if I can make it), and paying for gas alone could kill us.

3. Will it benefit you if the LAN venue is near public transportation (i.e., MAX light rail)? Not really, living in northern Washington, I'll probably just drive.
4a. If you attend, will you need a hotel room?I can sleep in my car. It's been done before, but if a cheap opportunity for a hotel room presented itself I'd take it.
4b. If you answered yes to 4a, would you be willing to share a room with other attendees?

7. What games (other than NS) do you want to play while at the LAN?I find UT 2004 and the various strategy games to be fun at LANs. I'd love to play one of the "Descent"s but, no one has them or plays them any more
8. Do you have any servers (game, voice comm, etc.) or network equipment that you could bring? If so, what, specifically?I have a 10 person vent server, but that's not really relevent. I have a 5 port router and a 5 port hub, and a few network cables.

It would probably help a lot of people around town, but I live about 20 minutes out of Portland (in gresham) so I could drive if I had to.

No. I'll live at home or maybe at the FFT manor if they ever clean up that toxic waste dump.. I mean house...
