This version has not been playtested. So I'm not sure if its balanced.

Game play feedback would be much appreciated.

Small 1.3 changelog:

-New entrance to MS.
-New Vent system (turbo vent) from Cesspool to Power Transfer Hive. It pushes players to either Hive in 4 seconds.
-Added new Light spots throughout the map and tweaked lighting.
-Cesspool hive moved 8000 units to the south. Redesigned surrounding area.
-RT and room removed (redistribution).
-New Hallway in Power transfer Hive.
-New Hallway connecting Communications Array and Intake Bend.
-New texturing throughout map.
-New environment sky.

If you have version 1.2, please replace ALL files with this version.

I take it you never heard of ns_rust. you shouldnt need pics to encourage you dl this map.

In all seriousness... this... map... ROCKS. Carioca, if you DON'T download this, then I must say you are a sad, strange little man, and you have my pity.

Moose- can I use parts of your map as a "basis of design" for my map? I've been tweaking my map a lot, but I can't think of anything new to add sad-fix.gif

brushwork,texturing excellent, lighting is very good 2.
The only thing I think is missing is sound, really needs way more sound. and I know you dont have much ents left because of the limit. but if you can add more.
I had the most awsome imaginary game on it last nyt:D . only found one little
prob, After completly destroying not 1 but 2 Onos(thought they could take comm array from me lol,silly bastards) I noticed that I could shoot through the glass,if it is glass??

heres a pic, you can see all the bulletholes of where i can shoot through. Also noticed that bubble appeared outside whenever I was shooting through??. the bodies of the two Onos lie round the bend and down some steps asrifle.gif _

Yep, thats suppose to be glass. This is exactly why I needed rust playtested by my playtest team #cri, but Forlorn was banned from the community so there goes that confused-fix.gif Thanks Moconnor for showing me this.
I also have about 50 entities left to play around with before I hit the limit smile-fix.gif so you might see some new sounds in the next bug fixing build.

Added to the upcoming second NSArmslab map pack.

I thought I would share that our server wanted to use this map and we struggled getting it to distribute properly to players that connected. We did get it to work after some tweaking and I thought it would be a good idea to post our fix here in case someone else stumbles across this thread and runs into the same problems we had.

The main problem is caused by the extra dot in the file names (ns_rust_1.3.xxx). HLDS just does not seem to like it. Additionally, there is typo on the sound folder that needs to be corrected.

Here are excessively detailed steps used to get this thing to distribute properly:
1. Download the zip file using the link on the first post.
2. Unzip the files into a folder on your hard drive.
3. Rename the folder titled sounds to sound.
4. Rename ns_rust_1.3.bsp (maps folder) to ns_rust_1_3.bsp
5. Rename ns_rust_1.3.res (maps folder) to ns_rust_1_3.res
6. Rename ns_rust_1.3.spr (\sprites\minimaps folder) to ns_rust_1_3.spr
7. Edit the ns_rust_1_3.res file and change the second line to sprites/minimaps/ns_rust_1_3.spr


Maybe we could have skipped steps 6 and 7 (didn't test it) but I wanted to keep everything consistent. I realize this is an old thread and there may be a more recent version of the map out there but I couldn't find it. If anyone knows of a link to a more recent version feel free to post it here. Great map by the way.

Return of a great! Maybe we can finally pump enough life back into the idea of the Official Map Pack, but that did seem to die out a long time ago.

I'll give it a full runthrough soon.
