Basically get SC first.... and play normally...
At the 2:00-2:30 mark ALL GET TO A PREDETERMINED AREA (all 11 skulks preferably, but on smaller servers ive done it with 6)
ALL OF YOU GET CLOAKING...
Now here's the kicker...
WALK TO MS... dont attack anything......
if you see a marine... literally 11 skulks climb the wall and wait for them to go by... dont attack.....
Right outside ms gather up again and RUSH THE CHAIR....
DO NOT BITE THE OBS, DO NOT BITE THE ARMORY, DO NOT BITE THE IP"S
Kill any marines at MS and then KILL THAT CHAIR....
Reasons this works:
Around the 2 minute mark, all taht is in base is mines, and they are NEVER around the chair, maybe one or two marines are at base ammoing up...
Comm has NO pre-warning that you are coming, no mt (if rushed) and no marines going HOLY **** 11 SKULKS INCOMING
Assuming it takes him 2 seconds to realize OMG WTH and another second to grab the obs and bacon... chair is already down GFG....
The point is the comm has no time to react...
Ive done this... 6 times so far on the NSArmslab classic server
Its worked 4 times (one time comm got new chair down, however he baconed first, so we slaughtered em all and theyn ever built new chair)
The only two times it failed were because two regulars on that server knew what i was going to do (having been around when i forumalated it, and told the comm, so he baconed at 2 minutes and handed out like 6 shotguns.....)
Anyways, ive had 2 comms throw a temper tantrum when i do this, and thus far it has not failed unless the enemy comm was tipped off by an evil marine who was devious and knew waht i was going to do
This would have worked in B5 too, but now that ppl do sensory first more often i can come up with new cool strats...
Variations include doing it within 30 seconds of the game, or seconds after you lose your 2nd hive...
Try it... laugh at how unbelievably effective it is

You didn't mention that one time on bast when marines had an obs in their base that pretty much showed a train of 8-10 skulks walking near marine start. Then christian got out of the chair, layed down a pack of mines and owned ALL of you vs. one.

if I see no kharaa activity as a comm I get paranoid and start to check, this includes base.
if you have a obs, they will never get the chair down to 75%, if you do not have a obs, listen and build a new CC somewhere else, preferably in there active hive.

After this take down the IP, Observatory, arms lab etc....

That's great, the one time you hear a skulk and want to shoot it, it's on the other side of the wall. STOP LOOKING DOWN THE HALLWAY AND BUILD THE PHASE GATE RETARD.
If I start walking or crouch in a corner, it might be a good idea for you to FOLLOW SUIT INSTEAD OF HOPPING AROUND LIKE A MORON AND ATTRACTING ALL THE SKULKS.
Do you see that obnoxious, blinking blue circle on your screen? Touch it and you win the game.
No, I don't want you to try and solo the Onos with your pistol, I WANT YOU TO BUILD SMACKTARD.
When trying to ninja, it is GENERALLY NOT A GOOD IDEA TO SHOOT AT EVERY SKULK THAT DOES NOT SEE YOU.
We are going to beacon and then move out of base THIS WAY. We are not going to hump the armory for 20 seconds, or phase back to where ever, we are going to lea- NO, YOU IDIOT! GET OFF THE ARMORY! YES! NO! NO! WRONG WAY! TURN AROUND! DON'T SHOOT THE RT!
The HIVE is spawning skulks and allowing new ones to teleport in.. THE MOVEMENT CHAMBER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROOM IS NOT. STOP KNIFING."
Don't be afraid to be abusive. You're better at the game than them, they should listen to you if they enjoy winning. Y'know, unless they're one of those weirdos who think the fun part of the game is running off alone in the wrong direction to further increase their 0-15 ratio..

Ok, le'ts crunch some numbers. One skulk can bite approximately 3 times a second, with 75 damage per bite.
There are, in theory, 11 skuks all biting the chair (although I'm not sure if there's enough room) but let's just say there are, the damage pers second is (11 * 3 * 75) = 2475 damage a second. A comm chair has 1000 hp, so the comm has apprimately 4 second to respond. More realistically though, there won't be 11 skulks there, and not everyone will start biting at the same time. I give the comm at least 6 seconds to respond. That should be just enough time to drop a comm chair, and maybe activate beacon.

The alert probably won't play until a few seconds have passed, meaning the comm has less time to react than that.

If you can organize 11 skulks to take down the comm chair, you have just won the game. With that level of teamwork on alien part, you can just have a big 11-skulk group wandering around and, well, owning. Nodes can go down in about 2 seconds with 11 skulks chomping on them, obs goes down in <1.
It's unrealistic, though. It'll be really hard to organize a group as big as that.

Mar 14 2005, 09:52 AM
Well you *can*, but assuming just as much organization on the marine side, they can easily take down your hive at the same time, and force you to die from ping of death. A competant commander can still drop a comm chair in time. Remember, an obs decloaks aliens, and if I see 11 red dots in my base, I'd relocate.

... wait a minute... that wouldnt work if you had an obs lab... it would uncloak the aliens near the obs... and i have an obs up in 1 minute... this would only work if it was an armslab first comm... this would take an increadably large amount of co-op with the team... i can get a good 75% of my team in the server i play in to do what i say but there is always the noob who doesnt know english or logic...

Mar 15 2005, 01:08 AM
Wow. I haven't been here in ages...
Point made previously, but if you have enough teamwork to get 11 skulks together in a pub, then you probably have enough teamwork to win the game no matter what happens.
Unless, of course, the marines counter with the same sincerity of teamwork.
And besides, what happens if 11 marines start shooting your hive a couple seconds before you start attacking the comm chair?
theclam
Mar 15 2005, 01:31 AM
Actually, while this maneuver requires a lot of teamwork, it requires very little individual skill. An alien team could have lost a game because they don't have much skill, instead of winning with this strategy.

I'd say with marines seeking res fast these days, a delayed rush would work really well. Wait like 2 minutes then attack. If skulks are fast enough to kill the cc they could run back and defend the hive?
Swiftspear
Mar 15 2005, 10:10 AM
1/4 we are SO doing this on LM some time. Even if they have an obs, 6-8 skulks in MS at one time all but undetected = a real smashed up MS, and with a few sense in the hive you know that marines are there before they know the hive is there. This strat is brutal when it works. Yes the obs would decloak all the skulks as soon as they got in range of the base, but honestly, you try to kill 8 skulks rushing into MS all at once while you are trying to ammo up your peashooter.
I mean a good com with drop another CC somewhere, but still, eating marine start in one foul swoop is a huge res hit to any marine team, and if you pull it off fast enough all the aliens lose is maby a few skulks and a good few res posititions... which with no IPs on the map for several minutes, should be cake for cloaker skulks to take back.

Not really much teamwork involved at all....
Just one person mic spamming (me) until people listen....
Plus i have a cult following on that server... people go "Listen to him, win or lose itll be fun"
As to the obs in base.. ive never done it without an obs in base.... but if you pause outside ms (right at obs range) then rush in.... u can hit teh chair in 30 seconds.....
At 2 minutes into the game a comm usually feels that 4 mines around teh IP is sufficient.. and isnt constantly scanning base, itll take him a few seconds to notice the red dots on teh minimap (prolly will check after dropping a node or something and see them around teh chair.....
The reason to do cloaking over silence is the only way for this to work is if ur on teh chair before the comm see's it..... you can sneak past marines leaving ms, without them seeing 11 skulks and belting a warning to the comm....
If the map is tanith and 3 marines are walking thru west skylights and another 3 walking down topo hallway... the comm is gonna feel pretty secure that base is cool, thats when u pounce and attack....
Yeah 2 marines in base wont do much.. maybe 3 kills before they kick the bucket..... and that leaves 8 skulks to bite.... but most comms still will be delayed into thinking they can bacon and save the chair, and/or not drop a new one quick enuff...
Yeah the remaining marines could attack your hive.... as you take out thier base...
But when is the last time marines were able to take down a hive without ammo?? yeah they can knife it a bit... but chances are 10 marines arent sitting outside ur hive 2 min into teh game... they are spread out all over tarnation getting resnodes and securing ****......
As to the people who say lots of teamwork... No... there really is no teamwork in this, just following orders by me.... Teamwork is mutual, this is just monkey listen monkey do ****.... and it works
You can run the numbers in your head all day and theorize about how most comms will get a chair down in time or most comm's constantly watch base or have a 7th sense....bla bla bla....
Fact is... this is combat proven to me... with a ~75 percent sucess rate... never failed if teh chair goes down, usually fails if some idiot bites a rine right out of ms and we are forced to rush in as he is beaconing because our cover is blown cuz that idiot wouldng climb on the ceiling and let him go by...
Keep theorizing... ill keep giving commanders hissy fits in game....

If you drop OC's in there, the CC isn't dead in seconds, allowing the comm to drop a new CC or beacon. The comm has a chance to react, so it is a completely different strategy.
