Alrighty, looks like this section and its first Lorem Ipsum test post is accessible. You can all thank Grendel for coming up with the idea of making this section. I imagine he'll write up the first stickied greeting and rules thread soon (basic things like "Don't host on our bandwidth, please bring your own"), and once they're here, this place can get active. We have further ideas for this section that we may want to try, but let's concentrate first on making sure it's visible to all you members to begin with
Meanwhile, start finding all those trick, training, film-style, and competitive demos you've got lying around your hard drive. Soon it'll be ready to rock

Tis visible ... I am curious how you set up the redirect function in General Discussion. Great idea adding this btw.

If people want to see it, it's on someone else's bandwidth, and it's not considered offensive, it's fine by me. I didn't leave "funny" out as a category on purpose, it's just not something I thought of when I first posted this thread. (Most/all of the things I did think for that sentence were also Grendel's idea.)
Depot: the redirect function is something I discovered in the Admin controls. If you have your own forums also based on the Invision system, the manual is quite helpful in teaching how to set it up.

Yes, 2 of my forums are InvisionBoard v1.2. I have seen this option in the Admin Panel Manage Forums, and now I know what it does, thanks.

Perhaps we could get a sticky on how to play demos?
Lol, been playing HL for 3 years and still haven't gotten one to work.

How to play demos:
1. Put demo file in /ns directory, for example "demo.dem".
2. Remember name of file.
3. Start ns.
4. Open console.
5. Enter command "viewdemo demo".
6. Hit escape to use the self-explanatory VCR controls.
7. Download more demos from amped.
Speaking of - I finally watched the knife v. eod tiebreaker. The second half was great. I especially liked the guy spectating that simply could not understand why fana would be patrolling shoe, maint, sloop, and likely phase spots for CC. It was just beyond him.

Once you've obtained a demo . . .
- load NS
- open console (~)
- type "play demoname.dem"
- enjoy

(Make sure the versions match too)
EDIT: GG MR. KAV beat me to it!

The best demo has to be The 8 onos rush in tanith after our satcomm relocation and our measly one resnode....
3 hmg's (IIRC) one GL, and 3 heavies, and the rest L1 armor L3 guns, and we killed them all, then proceeded to win the game....
Best Demo Ever... that was back in 2.0 though... if anyone has a viewer im sure i could dig that one up

Is there anyway to record a demo with what you say over the mic without having voice_loopback on? I can see that I say something but have no idea what it was...

it would be nice to include the 'rule' that simple poll in every demo thread is required (good/bad would do de trick). it could give you basic idea if it's worth to dl/replay/read further, as this section *will* grow in 100's of threads in no time.
