Hey guys, I'm nate and uh, i'm new? Anyway, I have a question. If I wanna fool around and test things like effectiveness of weapons and stuff, and don't want to have to learn the hard way...could you guys hook me up with cheats? I want to create my own server, and I need a cheat list, like npc lists and weapon lists...for example if I want to level up with a console cmd, what is the cmd? I'd be appriciated alot if you guys helped later.

givepoints

will give you xp... with enough xp you will get level points which you can spend on ups in co game... Try adding bots for practice... You can find links in sticky thread in general discussions forum...

also as you turn sv_cheats on... You can build and research things much faster almost instant in ns classic mode... good for learning tech tree and practising comming...

Hm...I know how to enable cheats and such, but the givepoints cmd doesn't work. Suggestions anyone?

givepoints gives research points in ns mode,
givexp gives experience points in co mode.

Do a search for cheats you should be able to find a few lists of all the commands that work with sv_cheats 1.

lol i wish i had these cheats when i was new to NS. I just jumped into any other server (as your typical noob) and got pwned by all the experienced players... Of course after 3-5 mintues they just kicked me Oh well, maybe its good that i learned the hard way

The "cheats" don't actually help you play and you can only use them on your own server, so all their really good for is testing out building and running around the map alone.

oh....well i know it wouldnt work for online play XP but i wish i knew them earlier so i could practice on a private server so i could get more in tune with the NS controls and such

playing in your own server with cheats is a good idea as it enables you to learn the comm controls, building the tech tree, and enables you just to do stuff which you cant unless you have 2 players.

try practicing against bots aswell that might help u out

I wouldn't suggest playing against bots just by yourself. You'll learn more by playing against real players instead of skulks that walk straight at you.

I find that playing against bots is good if you have some friends and you all want to learn the game at the same time. Plus if you make a mistake, no one is going to get upset with you.
