This thread is based on a spin-off idea from the Onos digest nerf thread. It's different enough, IMO to warrant its own thread, so here goes

Right now, the onos is done digesting right when the marine dies. I think the marine ought to die after some time, but the onos should keep digesting the carcass for another 30 seconds or so - slower running and everything.

This would affect the onos much more in combat than classic, but combat is where the problem is most rampant anyway.
And not being able to digest for a time would make the onos do other things - it might be willing to attack the marines (in combat) just to use redemption and get rid of the body so it could eat again.

Or make the digest process take as long in combat as it does in NS, but kill the marine as fast as combat devour is now, and don't alter the NS devour at all.

i dont believe the onos needs any kind of nerfing. how is he supposed to stop a heavy train?

This is one of the better ideas around.
In any CO map, the biggest reason I never get HA is because I can't live for more than 30 seconds TOPS if there are any Onii around. All they do is devour me spam every time. With a JP, I have a much better chance.
any of these ideas will encourage HA use and decrease devour spam.

ROFL, when I read the title, I thought someone was going to suggest that the Onos explode into big gibs when it eats too much biggrin-fix.gif

I never take HA in combat anymore, you become an Onos magnet.

Level 3 SG or HMG, very little armour. I let the onos attack my front line team mates while I pummel it to death with my level 3 weapon.

I've found that I can't beat an onos with a level 3 shotgun by my self, I need fire support. I don't think that should change, however, I can usually send an onos running with a level 3 HMG...

So screw the 4 levels needed for HA, get weapons1->shotgun->weapons2->weapons3 and then maybe an HMG. This is usually effective vs onos, and gives you the flexibility to go to HMG or GL as the game progresses.

Devour does push HA out of the game. Is that what is wanted?

Now this is a good idea, Devour spamming is something of a problem in CO mode (although nowhere NEAR as big a problem as #&$*ing GL spamming is) I use HA all the time in CO, mainly 'cos I just don't realy like the JP, I much prefer being a complete and total #*$%ing tank biggrin-fix.gif !! And as some of you have said, HA is just a devour magnet.

Also on a bit of a side note on devour, I find it a bit strange that a marine that has bean eaten whole with all his weapons can't cause at least a little bit of indigestion with his knife biggrin-fix.gif .

Hehe, just thought of something funy with the indigestion, wouldn't want to do it with the GL otherwise you'll have Onoses being blow apart from the inside like that bug in MIB ROFL!!
