On the NS maps, i think adding eggs at spawning positions would better suit the alien hive and it's spawning. It makes more sense having aliens pop out of eggs rather than that little plop sound from air into existance. I'm not saying that the aliens would spawn a new egg the instant they died, but have eggs in place waiting for a respawn. It would also give a more creepy feeling for lone marines entering a hive area, more objects to hide behind, and add abit of safety when evolving in the hive room with "decoy" spawn eggs.

It would be good, but where would the new eggs to replace them come from? The same place the old Aliens did. Not only that, but for people with low-end computers, there'd be many more models on the screen than there should be.

I like the idea, but it's not a good one.

Well, I was thinking more like the eggs growing, not instantly appearing. Although I didn't think having so many objects on screen would be a problem, when I considered the amount of turret/chamber spammage in some games.

Oh well, maybe an idea for later.

sorry dude but according to the NS story you are wrong! It's not like it's in the Alien trilogy that aliens are born out of eggs. The HIVE produces the Skulks as reaction of the enemy marines.

On ns_hulk i think theres a hive with preplaced eggs in it. When i tested it out it was pretty scary walking in there even though i was the only one in the game. So it can add atmosphere and it would mean hiding in hives would be easier.

Technically, as one guy pointed out, they aren't really eggs - they're cocoons.

Umm what about when the marine comes in and kills you in egg form? Go back to the end of the spawn queue?
