when i launch natural selection a prompt pops ups and says "Your half-life\executable has been modified. Please check your system for viruses and then re-install half-life." ?? any ideas?

Check your system for virii and reinstall/repatch HL.
Or are you trying to run it through the dummy HL file MonsE provided. If you are... Don't.
