Heh, I feel a little foolish making a wip for this sprite I'm making, but I think it's going to take me a while, and I need opinions and suggestions. Tell me what you guys think...
Need ideas for:
Caraspace
Celerity
Adrenaline (Pictured, not very good)
Silence
Focus
Scent of Fear (This one needs changing... looks like it uses the advanced hive site sprite)
The background colors are:
Defense: Green
Movement: Black
Sensory: Purple

Celerity, I would think a skulk with a heavy motion blur would suffice.

I suggest you only shade the infestation. Don't shade anything else. Especially the background that the upgrade sprites sit on.
Actually you can shade the upgrade icons....the one within the circle, just don't shade the background it lies on. Makes it look like rubber or plastic.

Alright, I took out that light shadding on the background, now it only shades dark. When I make some more, I'll compile it and update the screenshot.

Scent of fear: Skulk's nose?
Carapace: Reworked version of the current cara icon (it's good)
Celerity: Alien with a blur trail
Adrenaline: Alien with veins popping out, bulging eyes?
Focus: Marine silhouette with everything around the marine blurred?

That celerity sprite is frieking hot shaz!
Scent of fear: Marine torso with heart glowing red, or something red about the marine indicating quick pulse, flush of fear (like they are detecting his heartbeat racing)

Some good ideas...
Here's the current state, nearing completion. I caved in on the caraspace... but I still have problems. I think the SOF and Focus are too alike... and need a replacement for adrenaline and silence.
Might be best to replace the focus.
Edit: Don't mind the stuff that leaks outa the circle, won't be like that in final version.

looking good, just a few crits/comments though.
Redemption needs...something else. the hive looks too pixellated, maybe a sillhoette (though you've done that already) or an outline of a hive around a skulk? Also, the regen sprite is a little plasticy- maybe it's too rounded I think, makes it look like rubber. As for focus, i think keeping what you have now is fine, just put blue slashes diagonally through the centre of it (like it's being torn asunder- or maybe even slashes like wolverine's claws make in x-men

)
Hrmm...adrenaline...i'm thinking maybe a skulk glowing yellow, or yellow 'waves' (ie. soundwaves) coming from it, to depict it exuding energy.
As for silence..this one's a tricky one...anyone else have any bright ideas?
Also i think the background colours of the DC and MC chamber need to be a little more distinguished (as the SC is from the other two)
Just my few cents worth

*edit* Oh also, just looking at the scent of fear sprite some more, maybe have some streaks or lines coming out from the glowing heart (just to break up the sillhoette a bit)

hm first thing i think of when i hear focus is skulk jaws coming for my face
maybe do skulk teeth or something?

I have a proposal.
Make silence a skulk foot touching an imaginary floor, and the imaginary floor ripples.
And make the background on the MC sprites a bit darker. It's a bit hard to distinguish between DC and MC upgrades. Unless colour restrictions are in o_O

I changed the backdrop colors for the movement upgrades to yellow... figures, you know movement chambers give ya energy, and energy is usually associated with yelllow...

Suggestion:
Make every ugprade type have a different background color. (I mean sensory/movement/defense, right now movement and def have the same)

They look pretty freakin' awsome, although the SoF (as stated a million times over) needs some touching up. It's nifty though, and it would be a really nice change from defaults. Can't wait for them. Sorry I have no real suggestions, though, I can't think of much for SoF.

the teeth crosshair on the focus sprite looks a little muddled. maybe making it (the teeth) a little more opaque would help...other than that, i think they look nothing short of amazing.

On the silence sprite, I think it would look a lot better if the ripples were elongated on the X axis, that way it would look more like the skulk was putting it's foot on the floor.

I liked the sof with the silhouette of the marine and the red heartt, one of the early ones. And a suggestion for silence: a marine with his hands over his ears.

Here's a screenshot of them in action... I think adrenaline needs some cleaning up... or revamping.
I should mention, NS distorts the picture to 75% height, so I have to distort the width to 75% for it to become round, and not oval. That's why they appear smaller.

Celerity: The Onos doesn't look to be very fast. Perhaps add some "ghosts" behind him to create a "zoooooooooooooooooooooooooom!" effect.
Adrenalin: Something else would be better, perhaps an enlarged vein or anything that reminds you of the effect in comics when people show off how they can play with their muscles.
Redemption: The hive looks, compared to the others, a bit plain and pale.
Cloaking: Not enough in there, much unused space. Perhaps add some lines to create a "shimmering" effect.
Regeneration: The + is lacking an "alien" look. Some cracks or such perhaps.
Carapace: Too bright at the top.

I actually like most of those now, i think with cloaking, simplicity is what makes it look good, and it follows suit with the other two nicely- if you were to add anything else to it, make sure it doesn't overpower the look of it now.
Also, personal preference for SOF is your second last one, i think the entire red all over detracts from the sillhoette theme you got going with sensory...though it still looks great if you don't agree with me

Other than those 2, i agree with obst's comments, the hive could use something....and cara is a bit bright, and i think perhaps regen could do with an alien 'veiny' look.
Fkn brilliant though, keep the concepts churning

I really LOVE the sof and redemption ones now, awesome stuff shaz

Only one real comment- with the celerity one, make the "2nd" onos a little more opaque, at the moment it looks darker than the 1st one - not at all like a 'blur'.
And what do you say if you try adding more veins to the regen sprite (thin ones this time, and only 1 or 2, but make them orangey - similar to orange on fadelook)
