From the screenshots this looks like a really nice map.

The only thing I spotted was in picture #13, there was some slightly dodgy texture work.

From the screens that I waited to load, Looks a bit open imo, good, but open.

Edit: also, try to use less "square" rooms.

oops, do you mean the roof texture on the floor? didnt notice that myself biggrin-fix.gif or do you mean where the walls meet in the far corner or have i missed something else?

The walls slant upwards towards the ceiling. You have a different texture on the slanted bits, which doesn't align properly where it meets.

I realise that doesn't explain much better, I can always post a picture if you're still not sure what I mean.

yep. looks pretty good. the website there is a little troublesome though. I had to reload every time i opened a picture because it would show the HTML instead of the page.

My only comment:

Change the Hive, you don't want it to be a one-sided event like that map that somehow went official (can't remember its name so I'll just call it co_shootHiveFrom50m4TehWin). By that I mean give it some sort of shield so that Marines have to be a bit closer before they start spawn-camping.

P.S. Yes I know the aforementioned map has been changed, I just can't understand how it passed initial playtesting with such a blatant team bias and furthermore how it got into the official mapcycle in its previous state.

Id appreciate that Toothy, TBH I'm not sure I'm even looking at the same pic as you are biggrin-fix.gif

too open. the hive is... nah. thats not a alien-friendly hive. and try to add some more details, overall architecture is ok but the lack of details makes it look empty.

Lt.Gravity, I just clicked on the link in your sig thinking "OMG! NS SOURCE! On 98% and I didn't even know it was being made!!"

*On topic*

Nice, if open, as mentioned several times.

To solve the problem toothy has pointed out use something called a "texture shimmy" by some of us Valve-ERC guys.

(crown molding or other transition brush)

OK, thanks Toothy for pointing that one out.

x5, you mean like a little trim brush type of thing right?

You can still shoot it, but I suppose now at least aliens can fling themselves in front of the fire if the hive's on 4%. Shove in a ramp (bump) that goes up then down so that marines can't hit the bottom of the Hive.
