first of all, apologies if this has been asked before..
but,

im making an classic ns marine versus marine map. All the entities are set right, as far as i can tell. we have a team 1 and a team 3, both set to marines. The spawns are proper... and all the entities are right (as far as i know)

however, when i load the map and enter the join team HL suddenly freezes and i have to force quit..

whats up?!

sure it is, i played an mvm map a couple months ago!

First of all, I'm not even sure mvm works in b5, secondly, classic mvm does not work at all.

Classic might be the problem.. but im gonna try to weasel it into working. Also mvm does work, in combat, im 100% about that

IF MvM were officially implemented, there would be an official MvM map.

Basically, I don't know whether MvM is possible through various entity configuration setups, but it is certainly not guaranteed to work like normal MvA,

Actually, yeah, it is. v3.4 and up have it. Personally, I hate MVM maps and would rather play MVA or AVA, but other people seem to love it. BTW, I will not post wrong things in this forum again, just responding to your post.

That's not really any official work from the NS devs. It all started when a guy called MrBill made the first MvM map, and got some of us to try it out. It worked, so he released it and soon came more maps and plugins. This is all from the community however.

ns_ mvm and co_ mvm are two different things. I don't know the exact reason why co mvm does not work anymore in b5, but I guess that it is because alot of the offsets have changed in b5 and the plugins which where required to run co mvm properly don't work anymore. So they would need to be updated. But since I don't care about co mvm pretty much, I'm not sure about it.

as for NS mvm.. only with work from the mapping point of view you won't get to work properly. Since I'm working with somone on a plugin to get NS mvm to work for about 2 month by now, I can tell you, that it's not easy.
Some of the problems of ns mvm are:
- you don't spawn at the info team starts, instead you stay in the readyroom
- if team 3 is completely dead, the other side wins
- you can't have any rt's because the engine can't handle two teams with each marine resnodes (the reason why you crashed)
- team 2 commander can't drop or build anything
etc..

and these are not things you can fix by only mapping. But feel free to try tounge.gif
and no.. ns ava does not work properly either .

if you want mvm to work in beta 5, you need a amxx plugin to make it work.
