Heya guys,
If you are having problems finding NS servers with the Half-Life In-Game Server Browser, here are some alternate ways to find games:
Gamespy Arcade - FREE - very easy to use (sort of web-based, has chat rooms, and is a tiny download)
Gamespy3d - FREE - for more hardcore players, but a great one (full client, small download, very customizable)
All-Seeing Eye - Shareware (21 day, then very cheap price) - A great client, with an awesome support system and great automatic updates (probably the fastest server refreshes of any browser too).
Gametiger - FREE - totally web-based - Does not get you pings, but does give you near instantaneous server lists and has a game launcher.
Serverspy.net - FREE - web-based with a small optional tool called 'GameLauncher'. A great and fast tool. If used in conjunction with Gametiger makes a perfect web-based suite.

Odd, tried using GamespyArcade and 3d to search for NS, but it didn't seem to recognize it as it's own game. Still looking for a good server search prog.

That is odd. I just had a bunch of people run GS Arcade and they found Natural Selection listed on the HL mods section. And in GS3D it should show up under game 'NS'.

Just out of curiosity... are there any open-source server browsers for Half-Life?

HLSW is very good for all HL mods, and for use with IRC, raaaaah

ASE works beyond the 21 day limit but in a more limited fashion. ASE will prioritize your scan requests and conduct the server scans (not pings) from your machine instead of one of their servers if the load gets too high.
Overall it's a great program and well worth the money as it supports virtually every game you can think of.

server query is a open source browser, its pretty lightweight and it supports a bunch of games
a little bit rough around the edges, but i like it, and if you want to add features just download the source and hack away

That may very well be true, but if you're using mIRC, like 75% of all other IRC goers, you'll want to download/install SuperIP from http://www.cowboyscripts.org . It's fast, keeps a nice list of favorites for your pinging pleasure, and best of all, it actively "catches" other SuperIP messages from all channels you are currently in, to join your buddies.

God no!! HLIT and HSLW are EVIL! Well, to me. I have seeing them flood our channel in #UGL. So ugly and annoying!
Please turn off the server announcing!! I don't care where you are playing!!

Ok any idea how to use Gamespy, I click on natural selection, and keep getting sent to the Front Line force room.
For that matter, no matter what room I click on, it sends me to the frontline force ones. Even the CS room, and I have CS:Retail installed. And I dont even play front line force... lol (just comes with CS:retail)
And the tab on that top that you can also select games with doesnt have NS on it.
I could however play NS fine (and have been, but now ingame browser has completely stoped working for) with the ingame browser.

Gametiger does not have NS listed as a mod and doesn't quite support it, BUT you can get the same results by searching for map "ns_"

Like this:
http://www.gametiger.net/search?map=ns_&ga...bmit=++search++Works like a chram.

Ok now I've decided to use ASE, and I've managed to find NS games, but it says "couldn't execute game" so how do I configure it in the options, there isnt any option to add new games, and won't accept shortcuts.
*note* - nevermind, I've worked my way around the problem. But its really annoying that nothing works properly for CS:Retail

everytime i try to update and look for NS servers in HL,
(all the options selected in filter, ie, game NS,)
it still browses through like 30,000 servers, which sucks and takes a long time
and most of em are CS, so when im done like 2000 servers, i might only have 5 NS servers show up

I'm a huge SuperIP fan myself. If you only want to use it for NS, just select the HL module only on install.

All-Seeing Eye has problems with CS Retail and NS. It can be made to find ns_ maps but you just get an error when you try to launch the game. Rename/copy your cstrike.exe to hl.exe and make the Eye find "Half-Life" from your computer.

the hl master server lists are getting verry buggy (they never work)
and it seems that when hl goes to the backup servers, the bacup send all servers and doesnt filter for only ns
damn game list servers aint working ( WHATS UP VALVE and WON?)
if the server lists are working though, finding all ns servers only takes like 16 seconds

God knows how, Y who when. But I somehow sorted out the ingame server searcher and I now launch NS games from within HL as with any other MOD, CS, DoD etc. Its quite fun, dont ask me how I did it, just one day it appeared on my Costom Games menu, I selected and it searched for JUST NS servers, it didn't go thorough the other 16,000,000 servers or however many their are, just the rough 500 count.

Whenever my ingame server browser tries to feed me all the servers in existance, I click cancel, exit HL, and start it up again. Seems to work. So I just use the ingame server browser for now.

The Best program to search NS servers is The All-seeing Eye. Although it is 21day evaluation, you can continue using it, but it sends messages like: "scanner load too high -saving resources for registered users" and "Would you like to read more about benefits of registered users" and stuff like that.
But still, it is the best program I've ever used.

What about Kali?
http://www.kali.netIt may be old but it does allow you to do about as much as ASE.
15 minute free time but for the $20 you would spend for a registration it's well worth it. BTW I prefer it over Qspy(remember Qspy?).

Ok, I did gamespy and now it is going through a million servers but I can't get any that are less than 800 ping. Do I have to go through all of them? Will it remember my list if I come back to it or do I have to save it somewhere?
