Next installment in the pack, just posting for C&C and i think cookies got something to say. The polycounts around 1600 at the moment, which should be ok as its for the v_model, i dont think there are any major problems with the model either smile-fix.gif. Two renders, both quite bad :E;

its proving to be a B**** to skinmesh though with all those tiny indents and outdents sad-fix.gif

looks nice, not too many wasted polies (one spot though where there are: left side of the mine, the little panel with a line down the middle... line isn't necessary). Add some more polies to the cylindrical light.

BTW is there going to be a high poly pack? I've seen the LMG, the pistol, and the mine. Are there any plans to redo all the marine weapons/items?

if you read through a bit of the pistol thread, you'll see that their planning "something" and the pistol release is being delayed until then
that's why the pistol thread was locked
the pistol is already done their just waiting to release

know what the grenade right now looks pretty good actaully, im not sure if there's that much you can do for it..?
if your gonna do one like brigs again there's not much you can do, its just a cylinder with a little boxy thing on top..

uh, it will be used as P and W too, like all other custom models.

With 20 mines all over the base each one having 2k-3k polies, it would give you fps drops (even if they're small) no matter what video card you have, the HL Engine can't render too many polygons at once..

just the v model would be fine, not like your really ever that close to mines that are planted, your not gonna be inspecting them tounge.gif

Remember when Sushi did the polygon test? First he had 60k polies on-screen, and it was fine. Then he had around 90k polies on screen. It was chugging along at 15fps, but it was surviving.

(Until he phased tounge.gif)

P.S., the mine's under 2k, not 2-3k.

as opposed to my highpoly hacks in TS that have reached 8-9k on player models?

the max polies onscreen at any 1 time varies with the strength of your machine, if you have anything like an Nvidia G2+... then you're cool to use lots of these in p/w

you think wrong then... the engine itself has been known to raep people at about... 500k onscreen
