That it's almost impossible to play. I bought one of the new Radeon cards, installed it, works fine so far, updated the drivers, tried it's driver brightness increaseing abilities, but the game still resets it to default, so dark that I can barely see my team mates? Is there anyway for me to increase my brightness so I can play?

make sure the config.cfg isn't write protected?

create a new text file (with notepad) and type this into it:

lightgamma 2
gamma 3
brightness 9999

and save as "userconfig.cfg" to the ns folder. (you might need to select "all files")

if its still dark try putting

lightgamma 0
alias lightgamma

which im not sure it works, it worked for the interp command in b4a though. i havent had the chance to fiddle with b5 =(

edit: what could work, too, is to go to the game options in ns and in the video settings crank gamma up as high as possible.
