I have both entities in my map set up what appears to be properly, but when I run around the map by myself as marine or alien the opposing team's structures belong to the team I joined. Is this normal for just one player?
the map has the ns_ prefix and I run the map by opening a server(not by entering map XXXX)
Also one other questions pertaining to the particle system. I have a PS for water dripping down from pipes and set a collision effect(against water), but the collision doesn't take place on the brush that represents the water and generates on ground brush below. I'm using a world brush for the water and assumed it would work that way.

A particle doesn't collide with water, I believe.

info_gameplay has teamone as "1" and teamtwo as "2". I double checked all the spawn points, hives, and the CC and they belong to their respective teams. Do info_gameplay and info_mapinfo entities need to be named or not?

nope, they don't need to be named.
just out of curiosity.. have you started the round with sv_cheats on? If not it might not be set the teams correctly.
