I think I will now make a thread to allow all of the imaginative, cool people here in the I&S to create a new type of chamber
For the first time I cannot express a clear idea on what I'm trying to present in first post of a thread. I will start by thinking through some of the old code framework that still exists.
Aliens actually have 4 types of upgrades:
offense
defense
movement
sensory
Offense was disabled when the OC became the alien's version of a sentry gun. I think there could be a way to keep the existing offense chamber and make a new chamber called an offense chamber (renaming the original OC into a sentry chamber)
What would this new thing do? Well it would have offensive upgrades: things that make you hit stronger, longer, faster, or something. Maybe it could give an alien teleportation abilities or some sort of DoT or AoE's. Like venom attack which hurt a marine over a period of time or until healed. Maybe something which works to spawn babblers, makes umbra's, who knows. As a community we can easily come up with a plethora of ideas and that is what I want this thread to do. Answer the following question:
If you could add a new ability catagory and chamber type to NS what would it be, do, how works, etc.?
I've also been viciously flammed when ever I suggest adding things to the HUD for not having more room. I have many graphical solutions. The pop-up menu that is defaulted to mouse2 for one could work on a hexagonal tree system instead of the current square system. Requires more engineering intially at the software development end? yes. Functionally different? no. It simply allow more ways for the hud to expand. After this thread I will go on to propose methods and descriptions to the specific increase-age of the tech tree system. Stay tuned.
