I had the rules listed in the Changes stickied Document, but someone rightly pointed out that they were getting lost in there.
So I'll leave that post as what ideas are going where, and use this post to contain the rules.
Single Thread per Idea: Keep single ideas to a single thread, this will mean more threads in the forum, but it will make moving/merging and locking much, much easier..
Topic Headings: Make the topic heading descriptive, that way those who want to skim ideas to find ideas that they are interested in, can have an easier time, any posts not with a good title, will be locked until the title is changed, or will have the title changed by a mod.
Work in Progress If you put that in the title of your post, then it will be ignored/not moved/not deleted for 20 days or until the title has been changed to something else. If it's still incomplete after 20 days, it will be deleted no questions asked. If the subject has changed then the idea will be reviewed on it's completed merits.
Group topics Everyone has their own little tweaks they would like to see for different weapons, classes and chambers, rather than having 100 topics about "Sensory Changes" I'm thinking of having 1 thread that all the ideas can be put into, and then perhaps a poll. So Once these are in place, if you make a "sensory Changes" topic, I'll PM you with the link to the main topic, lock and then after 24-48 hours (enough time to get your information out) I will be deleting it.
Locking: Any change deemed by me, or any other mod to be a duplicate, or simply a bad idea will be locked for a period of 7-10 days, if you think the locking was unjust and want to add something to help clarify the original lock, then please PM me and I'll review each post on a case by case basis. Part of the problem in setting this up initially is I'm looking at several hundred ideas a day, and it's easy to get bogged down so, I'm assuming some mistakes will be made, if you don't see one of your favourite posts moved, and find it locked, let me know.
Deletion: Any exact duplicate posts will be deleted with a link to the duplicate post sent via PM to the topic starter. This should eliminate any follow-up "Where did my post go" posts.
Ideas that are really close: Ideas that are very close (such as clocked mines, and cloaked mines that hum), or ideas that build on an already suggested idea will generally be set up in a merged thread with the original topic. This will allow the addition of new "parts" of an idea while keeping the original thought intact.
Post specific deletions: Posts that have no purpose (for example off-topic posts or attempts to hi-jack a post), will simply be deleted. I will try to leave posts that indicate an agreement with the main post simply because it makes it easier to see community support. I will also leave posts that have a dissenting opinion that is thought out and presented with information.
Old posts: I know sometimes it's fun to go back over old posts and look at the crazy ideas before the game was even released, but there are currently over 10,000 topics in this forum. In order to continue to cut the wheat from the chaff, I'll be re-visiting some older threads and deleting where appropriate to get the thread number down. I will also be locking a tonne and revisiting 7-10 days later, because there are many, many ideas that are duplicates or small add-ons (which would need to be merged).
I've started from about 20 days ago and if you look there are tremendous number of bad posts locked, please check your favourites to ensure I didn't make a mistake.
Please PM me if there are any questions/concerns.
I will revisit these rules as needed.
