When NS was on won, i would randomly crash while using my mic. It would sometimes just stop thegame and make me alt tab out to manualy close it, other times it would do something similar, but have a looping sound.

This started to occur when i started playing again on steam. I heard that it may have to do with my onboard sound (im cheap... meh) so i went out and bought a soundblaster live, again, im cheap ^_^. It was working fine, for a few hours, and then it started to randomly freeze up and crash.

systems specs:

p4 1.4 ghz
geforce 4mx (blah, need to upgrade this junk)
512sdram
soundblaster live

any help would be greatly appreciated. =\

SoundBlasters Lives have prob with many programs.

Get a new sound card, or update your drivers...

dont be cheap.

so, if its just soundblaster, why did it crash prior to getting the new sound card...

running xp pro sp1 btw, forgot to mention that >_<

Upgrading your drivers may be the solution... If you still had your old card, you could set voice_modenable to 0, to disable the voice plugin for half-life.
