hey guys..this is really stumping me because I've used mp3 audio before in my maps (prior to steam that is)....

Anyone got any ideas on mp3 bitrate limitations...

and aside from that..can someone give me an example of a working entity setup:
(ie what your path is etc)

thanks guys - lol, I feel like a noob biggrin-fix.gif

I know one thing that I had not accounted for when I started is that unlike the ambient generic entity, you need the complete path of the file inside the nsp directory. So make sure to include sound/ etc etc etc

Make sure Start on is enabled too

hrmmm...an example of a working path would be great...cause I've tried sound/<mapname>/sound.mp3
MrRadicalEd
okay using an ambient sound from NS

sound/ambient/b5.mp3

check that 'start on' flag

target_mp3audios are really buggy.

for me the "start on" flag just doesnt work 95% of the time. what i do to trigger mine is have them triggered by a multimanger which is triggered by a trigger_auto that targets the multimanager after 1 second after the map loads.

other problems that occur are that if one mp3_audio overlaps another (in terms of the fade distance) one of them may not play. the solution to this is to give them different names, although once again you maybe going confused-fix.gif and mad-fix.gif

also another suggestion is to set the volume to 200 instead of 255.

however you may find that after all of that some still dont play. i had this on my map. for some reasion i decided to reload the map and then a couple of the sounds that werent playing before were now playing. so..uuurrrghg DAMM YOU MP3_AUDIO!!! DAMM YOU! asrifle.gif

Kouji San, that information reeeeeally needs to be added as a note in the official NS mapping guidlines. I had no idea of your post, but only came to that conclusion after a dozen or so compiles. It was very frustrating to go through all the motions to find out why exactly.

Yup, I hear ya man. Took me some time trying all kinds of things...
