I'll be gradually working on skinning it, but I make no promises as to whether I'll ever finish it or not, so please don't depend on me. I'm doing this for myself, to see if I can do it well enough to be satisfied. I don't have MS or 3DSMax at the moment, so I probably won't be able to make any renders or screenshots or anything and I don't have a lot of time to work on it.

This will be my first skinning job from scratch. Your mesh is very nice.
Chrono
you want i can send you a .mdl so you can preview your skin atleast
Wolf_Kahler
Nah, I ended up getting MS3D to see what certain parts of the mesh were for. Thank you, though.
Drake1
about 30mins work and its 4:00am i suck at skining >.<
CMF_Fatal
for larger guns, the sponge technique for metal usually looks good. but for hands it seems to look kinda off. the colt has always seem to me look good shiney and polished. its a dignified gun. a brushed techniqie would look better IMO

nice model chronus, very nice indeed. wvu much. keep it up.
TheUdderOne
Started having a go (I need to start skinning again).

Don't expect me to finish tho, as it really is just practice.
TheUdderOne
Was just messing around:

CoolCookieCooks
hmm, it seems that cinema 4d doesnt like the model, anyway, heres the start of my skin, someone try rendering it in max tounge.gif
TheUdderOne
Cookie here it is:

CoolCookieCooks
n1 dude tounge.gif hmm ill have to remove that line along the edge
DoZ3R
Wow... This is a nice model. I would like to try and skin it, but it would be easier if i had the .mdl version. could i get that? I need teh practice for skinning. Still learning. later...
TheUdderOne
Started adding detail to body...grip is just a place holder...but that is the base texture for it.

Gunna redo the base texture on the body so its more brushed like the slide.

C&C would be appreciated.
BAshh
holy shnikes dude. That's is just awesome, keep it up
Shazbot
It's looking really smooth... maybe too smooth? In my opinion it looks like it needs more texture to it... just my crazy opinion...
Ratonetwothreetwoone
hm.. thats pretty.. blue.. like those blue flashlights.. looks cool tho confused.gif

Chrono

Sid
Chrono.. Drake.. dang! You guys have come a long way.

Keep up the good work. biggrin.gif

*Maybe Sid should get into Modelling....* >.>

Edit: Woah, Udder - I never knew you could skin! :o
CoolCookieCooks
for my first weapon skin, i think im doing pretty well tounge.gif

small updatez0rz
Sid
Dang, Cookie! - That looks great! biggrin.gif

...I should get into skinning, too. >.>
Swiftspear
Udder, right at the tip of gun close to the barrel you have a real strange light glint. That one corner on the gun looks like there's a piece of lifted foil because you have it reflecting light sourses that are shining from above, while it is facing to the side.

=[
BrigadierWolf
If you think you can make it fit, you're welcome to use the skin I had made for my own Colt 1911 model a few years ago.. back in '02, I believe. here you go.
Chrono

CoolCookieCooks
ill have a go at hacking it on when i get back from teh beach biggrin.gif
CaptainPanaka

Kaine
i'll have a go at hacking brigs on too. i'm working on my own, slowly, jus for the practice. I could use a tut or two on light sourcing tho wow.gif

TheUdderOne
meh...if u prefer cookies i'll stop now. mines a bit weird i suppose.
Mr_JeburtO
nah man keep going your looks good to \o/
Fox_One
Actually (no offense C3) I like Udder's better. It's nice and shiney and new-ish. Dun like the blue, but that's not a problem, really. It's sexcellent.
Chrono
i like both udders is a nice clean feel like its brand new
and cookies reminds me of a old ww2 pistol
CoolCookieCooks
meh, its like, impossible to do the grip on the hammer, as on the skinmesh, it goes around a curve. Apart from that, ive finished my skin.

This is what i mean on the hammer, you see all that green bit going around the edge, its impossible to skin properly unless the mesh is changed slightly.
