I was thinking of maybe coding in some sub skins for ammo counters on weapons. Now weapons would not REQUIRE the subskin, as you can cut out the black hands on the v web via .qc file, but a modeler could code it into the .qc with
$texturegroup ammocounter
{
{ "50.bmp" }
{ "49.bmp" }
and so on
Or it could be the way firearms uses, which uses 30 sub-models, but those disappear when a idle animation is played i think.
Just had to post this, sick of the -- 50 0 counters lol

It would be great if the counters worked on those guns such as the pulse rifle or was it the pulse rifle... can't remember. Also, I have to say, schkorpio you have a great list of suggestions in your signature. I'd love if those were implemented.

Its a good idea and should be added.

Why is it only good for custom models? I think, the current weapon models have a place for a counter. And if not, I'll make one

Well, the important thing for this suggestion is a code that make the skin change, well...

I think the weapons for marine are good enough as they are now.

...im confused.
you DONT want a secksy ammo counter on your weapon models???
(im only asking because the main post says NOTHING about acual weapon changes, just for the option of making a working ammocounter)

He means if this is put in the code, he wants all the standard models to have ammo counters put in with them. I'd say no cause people would **** like mad. You could just take a few minuites and make the defaults have counters by adding 2 polys and the numbered skins.

Jul 30 2004, 07:59 AM
Well...
Couldn't you just make a texture overlay (like the t-fac and res node's electrified texture) that fits over a small block on the gun. Then, as you shoot,t he number on your ammo counter on screen would be displayed via a one of 251 number textures (aka, 0-250)
Would prolly take a nice bit o coding... but would be easier than having 251 different models of the ammo counter (that's assuming that all the ammo counters look alike 0o')

Don't we already talk about this? A set of textures to change while you shoot?
RobB
Jul 30 2004, 11:20 AM
Hehe... yeah. "yes" LOL. you freaky FREAK.
As for the overlay like the resnodes - this isn't impractical, because the nodes have a shieldshader or what it is named. its the same like in classic for some things. I know i have seen it somewhere in classic/opfor, but I don't remember. Also, I think they copyed it from the glow plugin.
If this goes finaly in, we could remove the ammo counter on the lower right...
(or at least make it an option for that ppl who want that)
mhhh... that would be nice.
I'm for it.
PS~ FREAK.

Speaking of ammo counters, does anyone know how to make the HUD less transparent? Because sometimes I REALLY have a hard time seeing my health as an alien when it's bright or I am cloaked.

About HUD transparency... I think, the transparency is determined by the sprite itself, namely the color tone. So decompile it, adjust the color tone (make it darker blue) and recompile the sprites using the proper mode.

Not meaning to bump, but since this was added to ideas for future ideas, if it gets added will there be a small tutorial or .qc file to show us how this will be working?
(sry, just couldent get it out of my mind for awhile :x)
