Mkay , I posted this @ the Mapping help and troubleshooting but because no one looks over there i'll post it here smile.gif ( 12 people looked , no answer.. sad.gif )

So I did exactly what KungFuDiscoMoney said in the compile with steam thread ... i made a simple RR , test run it with VHE but .. here's the question from other topic...

QUOTE
hmm , I compile my map with VHE to test it on steam and it says it can't find it ..
I know why , cuz vhe isn't using long file names .. altough i did check it ...

It's when vhe has to copy my bsp to the maps folder ...

CODE

* Parameters: "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\stephan_2010@hotmail.com\half-life\nsp\rmf\ns_dezezee.bsp" "mApps\stephan_2010@hotmail.com\half-life\nsp\maps\ns_dezezee.bsp"

where he needs to copy isn't using long file names .. i don't know why and i don't know how to fix.. so it suxx . anyone does ??
Nazul
still noone knows .. how ? this can't be , i can't start mapping without being able to fast test it ..
BulletHead
Hmm...

Well, all you can really do is go thru and check all your settings to make sure you set it all up right..

other than that, I dunno mate...
Reebdoog
Please only post once. If people know how to fix it, we will answer, double posting won't speed things up. Try using a batch compiler with cagey's tools instead of the built in VHE stuff.
KungFuDiscoMonkey
First off be patient. Sometimes we have other things to do then answer your question which is in the wrong forum. This should have been in the mapping help and troubleshooting forum. Also, if you were having trouble with your compile settings after reading the guide I wrote you could have PMed me and I would have worked with you.

I would double check to make sure that 'use long filenames' is checked. Also, I would check out batch compiler. I'm sure a quick search will find it for you but it is a great way to set up your map to compile without using hammer.
Nazul
Yes I know how to batch but I just want to compile a simple map to look if it's ok the vhe quality is good enough for that ..

ok now I have discovered that it wants to copy my bsp from the RMF folder to my maps folder .. which I set it to do ... but what i stumbeld upon is that there just isn't a .bsp to copy , and THIS is what I don't get .. no errors , nothing at all .. this is strange ..

The Log :
removed for space smile.gif

The original tools can't handle the email address in the name, it stuffs up the files. (See where it writes the prt file: 'c:\program files\steam\steamapps\stephan_2010@hotmail.prt').
You'll need to move them to a folder where there is no period, or use Cagey's build of Merl's build of Zoner's build of Valve's build of the compile tools tounge.gif
Nazul
hmm , if I am correct i didn't have the original files ( could have overwritten them , but mkay ) I really thought you got it but now I get this :S ( maybe you are right and I just ain't seeing clearly , it being half past 3 in the night wow.gif

you are copying your bsp file to the folder nsp\RMF and not nsp\maps and so.. steam can't find it.

edit.. oops wrong part quoted
Nazul
Ok i'm awake now ( slept for 9 hrs. so biggrin.gif ) i can see clearly again ... i set my settings good but It's not compiling ( as you can see at the log ( there bareley is a log :S ) and that wasn't the problem with the newb tools.. so this is another prob ( for me ) haha , i don't know why , I reset it to all the new tools again ( in other folder once i tried it in original folder ...)

this is me >> confused.gif

EDIT : mhhh, i put out the "Check V" @ copy file ( cause vhe would place the compiled map in my nsp/maps.. Didn't have errors , it's starting steam , but there"s a new update ( why now =] ) i think it's working , we'll find out wink.gif
Reebdoog
Just checking your compiling with the map not the rmf?
If it still doesn't work, try nem's batch compiler.
Nazul
finally steam is up again ( its updating now ( steam was down .. )
so i can try to get it going .. thanks for your help reebdog & others smile.gif
wont bump it anymore if it works or i can fix it myself biggrin.gif
