Nice work with the lighting, very nice use of glass there, keep it up.
Looks like the double res node is hard to attack though if marnes settle in?

wow great lighting the dbl res may be too hard to attack if you are aliens and marines are turtling in there and great glass

best looking map ive seen in a while

*looking at the other two replies*...well, I think it may be hard to get into that double res if one team is already there...*lol*
Anyways, nice look - very industrial feel - don't know if thats intentional but I really like it. The first shot is one of the best screenies I've seen for a while - I had to do a double take just to make sure that that area through the glass was real and not an environment map. Very nice.
Only problem that seems to come to mind is that it doesn't look very alien friendly. It's very bright. well, at least the screenies look that way.
Other than that, nice!

Now those are some awsome shots! Great lighting and architecture. Are the r_speeds within the limits?

Very nice map, I really like the lightning - it certinely doesnt look like the regular NS lightning. The dirty feeling reminds me of lost. Great job.
The dres looks fine to me btw, just bhop down the stairs since the glass will be protecting you. If there's a vent in there too then it shouldnt be too hard.

I really like the last image, looks like a nice area for small intense battles! Great work.

I really like that lighting:

And the 1st pic reminds me somehow of a map from the "Public Enemy" mod

Looks awesome. Maybe a tad overboard on the yellow. Try toning it down with some neutral white lights.

Well, thank you for all the comments.
Perhaps it isn't the most well-planned out double node area, but it can be changed if it becomes a problem. And as far as poly count goes, it doesn't go over 550 yet.
And hmm... yes... lost...

*thumbs up!* personally, I liek the yellowness. Also... what exactly dont people like about lost? Hmm, spose I should just do a forum search and find out, but personally its been one of my favs for a long time... or did it get nerfed in 3.0?

Looking great. However, the 3rd pic looks a little dull. The lighting is nice as someone mentioned, but I personally feel it's lacking something. Can't really tell what it is.
TTV.imso.teh_fatts!: I think it has something to do with lost crashing game servers.

Something tells me you'll be getting
two damn maps in before I manage to sneak one into official status, Greedo. Ah, at least I can still taunt you with runaround.
Great work.
And welcome back

Um....tbh a whole lot of maps suck for aliens and this looks a whole lot better than them. The map looks fantastic, great job.

...I guess that would explain it, as well as why I didn't know it was disliked as I mostly play LAN and we have more circuit breaker problems than server crashes. heh.

WOOHOO!
personally I like al the shots ^^
reminds on something but I cant make out what exactly this might be.
*thinks*
one one hand thereis little bit of "red faction" in these shots, on the other hand there is a lot of "quake 2" feel in it. dont feel insulted, I loved the Q2 design, yours is more like Q2010 though

very nice work. status?

Time for a small update.
No, I won't give out my rad settings. You'll have to experiment for yourself. It will be a lot more beneficial than just being told, as long as your serious about mapping. And a lot of it has to do with light size and placement as well, so giving out the rad settings is like giving out bullets to people without a gun.
Anyways, progress is slow, and I'm maybe 20% done if I'm lucky, so don't ask for any release dates.

Out of this set I like #3 the most.
I do have a question for you. On those lights are you correcting them with overlays, detail textures, maxlight, or another technique that I don't know of yet.
Greedo
Aug 2 2004, 05:49 PM
All those lights are handled with overlays.
