I have problem with very dark menus in game. I have the same problem in ns 3.0 beta 4 and in ns 1.04. There are some pictures:

Your pics look fine on my monitor. I have always found NS to be dark in general and have adjusted the brightness and gamma to max in the video settings under options plus adjusted the my screen to max levels. I have left vid card settings at default, but you could mess with thoughs if you like.

But in some custom maps the hud are ok. But in standart maps when i enter command chair his hud is very dark. Brightness and gamma i have set to max level.

The hud being blacked out is a known problem.
If you have dual moniters disable one (this might do it)
other then that there are no known fixes.
you can try searching these forums for other threads (there are a few million)

Since you have a nvidia card, you can change your brightness and contrast settings in your monitor setup (rightclick on desktop, properties, settings, advances, [your video card], something)... i dont really know what the things are called in the english version since i have a danish os ^_^

I have windows 2003 server...

And that os is a problem for half-life... My friend has 2003 and he has the same problem...

i have os and i dont have the problem, try updating your OPENGL or software video card, and then grab the latest version of ns sprites, tats what i did.

Where i can find ns sprites??
Edit: I have instaled new software for my graphic card and reinstaled ns and nothing. Comm Hud is very dark...
