For the longest time, I've never had a problem playing NS. Always had a reasonable ping on my server (About a 70-80), played at a resolution of 1152x864, run a GeForce 4 MX440 64 mb, and have loved it. But one night, after taking a break from playing a "working" NS game, I come into a server to notice that my ping is spiking into the 600s. Now all things considered, I have 4 computers hooked by a router into a cable modem connection, and when someone's downloading something it spikes like this. So I think, it's nothing, right?

I was wrong. When I'm in the RR, with no one in there, my ping is a constant 100 pretty much. When I spectated like I usually do when I spike, seeing if it'll die down, it did not. It spiked into the thuosands, and that wasn't the half of it.

My screen is VERY choppy when I see people. Like if an onos is on the screen, the ping will spike, and he'll go across the room in one frame. I've never had this problem and I don't know what's going on. I didn't install anything, or make any changes to anything. Although I think I DID install some new models, but I'm sure those aren't the problem because I've reinstalled many times, and I had already had these models in game a few weeks ago. So they never did anything like this.

Anyone have a solution?

Your interent connection setting may be off. Open Steam, hit the 'options' button, go to the internet tab, and select the correct internet setting.

Usually that fixes the problem for most people.

It tells Steam how much data it can send in and out of your PC. If you have it set too low, not enough data is moved. The result: high pings. If it's too high, I believe this can cause data to be lost (not recieved) by either the server or your machine.

any ideas wat i should put that number as for a good ping like around 60-80??

It depends on your connection speed.
