I played NS a few times back when it first came out but stopped long ago.
Just redownloaded it on a friends suggestion to check out how its changed etc.. and now I'm having nothing but problems
Following the Install FAQ to the letter, can get into the game too but the second its loading into the game at the startup room it crashes to desktop, every time, every server I've tried (about 10 servers).
I have 512mb of RAM, 1.8ghz, ATI 7600 running the newest drivers.
Any suggestions?

If you have followed the install to the letter, then you can try to delete the clientregistry.blob file in steam. Exit out of Steam and then restart.
Also if you are running CD that you have the latest version, or simply don't use at all to see if that was causing a problem.

Thanks for trying but neither of those solutions worked

I should also mention any other mod I try works fine except for NS

Try to uninstall Steam, delete the Steam folder, download a fresh version of it at www.steampowered.com, reinstall Steam, redownload NS at www.natural-selection.org/downloads.html, and install it. That should usually work fine.

Ok, what is your connection type? If using modem and router, try connecting straight thru modem. Have you looked at the port forwarding? Latest firmware?
http://www.steampowered.com/forums/showthr...?threadid=89116 There are other useful topics at Steam.
Yet if you played before and can't now I can't help but think it is how you installed. Have you played around with "Options", like your video modes, etc.?

ummmm
update drivers?
bah...
this problem has come up before, though I have yet to see a reliable fix for it.
You could try searching through this forums and finding threads on it.
Oh, and the start room is the Ready Room (or RR) this is just so yah know what to look for in other threads.
