I hate steam, so i was wondering if i could play on WON. Which of the versions is compatible with won? I would be glad if the newer releases were.
Bogglesteinsky
The latest version of NS to be playable on won is 2.X. All 3.X versions will be steam exclusives, because won is being replaced, it is pointless to make them compatible.

so 2.0 is the latest version for won? i saw something about 2.1 not sure what it was, but on the files page there was only 2.0
Bogglesteinsky
all 2.0 versions are playable on won. I cannot remember is 2.1 was serverside or client side, but all the files you need will be shown on that page.

[edit: 2.0 is the file you need ~120Mb. 2.01 is a serverside patch, so you only need to d/l that if you are running a server. If you are running a server, you will also need the 2.0 dedicated server files too]

i don't think thats right, i've taken my nsp folder out of where its installed for steam (i don't have steam) and put it in my normal cs directory. Works like a charm, i'm currently running ns beta3 (since i only play lans, i haven't updated) with bot support through won. its probably not as cool, but it runs fine.

edit: or was that what you guys were saying?

i wanted to know if beta3 can run with won as well.. i asked for which versions are compatible with won..

Can you PM me please with info on how to install it for won and the bots used and installation instructions please? biggrin.gif

WON gets shutdown soon, late August I believe.

You can run the new ns on WON, but it is pointless as there are only a handful of servers, and these will dimminish. Steam sucks, but there's no option. Live with it. I am sure they will fix the bugs (touch wood...) and prevent it crashing every 10 mins. Hell, maybe in a few years "friends" will work consistently.
